Coupons for a digital converter.

You'll need that converter in Feb. 2009 when all analog signals go dark.

I've gone through that same thought process.

5-6 years ago I was present and a part of a digital conversion of a local TV station. They were behind schedule and needed to get it done before the switchover. I remember saying at the time that there was no need to rush as there's no way the feds meet their goal, which I believe was 2006...? Maybe sooner, since it's possible that the local station had already missed the first date.

The problem was that so many companies that own these small stations couldn't afford the technology or didn't think the government was serious.

They do seem to be serious this time though. They're doing these coupons, nailing retail outlets for selling analog TVs without warnings, etc.

Not for your big TV, put possibly the TV in the computer room.

Guess I'm going to need a new tuner card for my Media Center PC. Will probably bump it up to Vista while I'm at it. Get an OEM package with the card.

Hey it is 40 bucks from the govt. Don't know why they are subsidizing the television industry but why not. Cable does go out you know.
