Antiquated media sources
The headline on the front page of msnbc.com:
<span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>Bush faces critics at G-8 summit</span>
Clicking on it, the headline on the actual article:
<span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>Summit opens on upbeat note on Iraq</span>
<span style='font-size:11pt;line-height:100%'>Iraq resolution gives Bush momentum as G-8 talks begin</span>
Seriously, what the fuck.

Especially given the apparently sketchy nature of the poll/questions/answers.
I was going to point that out too.
I find it interesting how arrogant the media is acting in these times. Their ratings, readership, and listeners are down...except for conservative outlets which are way up...and the American public is responding in poll after poll that they're sick of the slants, yet the media ignores the outcry and continues on its merry way reporting the news as they see it, not how it is.

I have heard Limbaugh say before that if you want the truth of an article you skip the headline and move to last few paragraphs. What really is being said is always down there.
I'm not a huge Rush fan, but I'd agree with that. At least I believe it applies to Yahoo News.

As long as the public keeps turning to other sources in greater and greater numbers, then these left-wing wacko propoganda mills (like CNN & MSNBC) will eventually either change or go out of business.Leisher wrote:I find it interesting how arrogant the media is acting in these times. God bless capitolism!

The farther you get into the article, you more you realize how wrong the headline was and little the polls actually meant. You'll also realize how even when the polls didn't go the way the reporters wanted it to go, they just gave their own explaination and still claim Kerry is the winner.
One of my favorite parts though:
I can remember Dems I know explaining why they were voting for Clinton again, explaining "its only been 4 years, and a president needs more time to do his job." I guess only Republicans get a single term to do their job. Anyway, not only is Joseph Rechtin a fucking idiot, but he makes a good point with his ignorance. Is the U.S.'s current "I want it now" social climate going to become a problem for incumbents?
In related news, FOX News showed results from polls today that showed the two candidates in a dead heat.

One of my favorite parts though:
Such dissatisfaction is moving voters like Joseph Rechtin, a retired postal worker in Cincinnati, toward Kerry, even though the Massachusetts senator has not yet made a very sharp impression on him.
"I haven't seen that much that [Kerry] can provide us real leadership," Rechtin said. "But it's more than three years now, and we don't seem to be going anywhere at all, and this involvement in Iraq is taking us down the wrong path. So I definitely feel we need a leadership change."

TPR, that's hilarious.
I want to add, that interestingly, FOX News' polls showed the approval rating at the same level. However, their Iraq support was now up to 60%.
I'd be very curious to see the actual questions that were asked.
FOX's presidential poll was, "Who would you vote for right now?" and as I said earlier, they showed it a dead heat. I wonder how the liberal (yes, I said it Dave as they admit it) Times poll worded the question to get their outcome.
