Honestly, I like when there are tasks to do. Unfortunately, people were cheating the system and ruined it.

I've always thought Valve should do something random for their loyal customers. Basically, if your account is X number of years old, in good standing (no cheating in games), and you own X number of games, you get entered into a daily drawing during the sale. 25 people win a game of their choice already on their wishlish. (They could really do this daily all year and it'd never dent any of their profits.)

They could add in other qualifiers, like reviews, account curation, owning Valve hardware, etc. Also, an account can only win once in a calendar year.

Those sorts of programs breed loyalty.

Recommended.

Didn't they do something like this once upon a time?

They've given away free games during a sale, but that was the one where they found people were gaming the system.

I don't remember any sort of loyalty program.

Just looked and you get three stickers by exploring your queue once.

Cards are earned through badges and purchases.

I've started a thing where I will purchase cards to complete a badge for any game I beat. So, I'll put together a few of those this sale and earn some badges.

"We need no stinking badges."

Collect all the cards of a set and then you can craft a badge.

Wow. The card market is locked unless you've made a purchase in the past year. I'm locked out for a week after my purchase yesterday.

Sounds like they had some fraud to deal with?

I'll have to check to see if I'm locked out.
