Weapons (2025)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Weapons (2025)

Post by Leisher »

I swear I had posted the trailer here, but couldn't find it.

This is by the same guy behind the excellent Barbarian.

School begins one day in a sleepy little town except this time a whole classroom of kids is missing. They all went missing the night before at 2:17 a.m.

Like Barbarian, it's excellent. There's a similar style of story telling, but also very different. The acting is just phenomenal. The Silver Surfer, Thanos, and Wong all deliver throughout. Amy Madigan might have me looking at Uncle Buck much differently. I didn't recognize her.

This is a methodical movie, so don't come in expecting kills galore like a slasher movie. It's a very character driven movie with a cohesive story. I am thrilled that such movies are not only being made again, but are successful.

This is a very good movie.

Ok, that's all without spoilers. I will give slight spoilers in the tag, but only to discuss the comment I said about style.

This movie invokes Tarantino or how a Seinfeld episode would play out. It is always going forward, but does so by sometimes going backwards. I love this guy's writing and directing style. My only real complaint is that his shots are too dark at times. He takes very simple, basic concepts and reimagines them in this world. It works so well. Ok, I do have two small notes on the film, so I'm going to put a spoiler in a spoiler. Wait until after you see it to read this one:
Wong was terrifying. The "uh oh" in the climax made me actually laugh out loud in the theater. Not at it, but with it. Very well done moment.

I avoided this one forever as a new dad, and then the odd music at the beginning threw me off.

Finally got into and watched it. Way better than I expected and it’s good they didn’t ruin too much about the movie in previews because it wasn’t what i expected at all.

Also Leisher is right Wong fucking ruled in this movie. His part was memorable and certain parts are hard to get out of my head.
