I really wish the posturing would stop on this issue. He's a father. He HAD to do this. Sure, all the evidence points to him being a corrupt piece of shit who used his son as a middle man with foreign powers to allow them to buy influence, but I would have respected him even less if he had let his son rot in jail when he had the power to prevent it.

Relevant, but off topic: I think we need to stop giving normal prison sentences to non-violent offenders across the board. The exception being if they're given life or so many years that it equals life. At that point, fuck 'em. However, in lieu of jail, they need to be given massive hours of community service, constant drug tests, working off debt (if applicable), and the promise that if found committing more crimes (not traffic shit) while in this program, they go to big boy jail with a stiff penalty...and stiffer roommate...
