Anyone affected by Crowdstrike's McAffee impression?

Aside from two guys stuck in the Charlotte airport we seem to be unaffected.

Nope. We passed on it a few years ago.

But we fly to ireland Sunday, so hopefully it's all fixed by then.

Had a boss once who would update our mainframe to the PREVIOUS patch, when the new patch came out. "Let's let everyone else test it. I'm not in a hurry to break stuff."

Yeah, that's how I always did DB updates. Be a patch or two behind.

Writing up a report about this outage for my board. Doing this even though we're not Crowdstrike customers because we're making a concentrated push to educate them that IT is super important, can cripple their business in a second, and they need to stop ignoring it. This is two years removed from us being hacked. How quickly they forget...

Anyway, doing my writeup and came up with a super "inside baseball" joke:
The engineer who applied this patch probably formerly worked at McAffee and did all the work on his Mac.

$5.4B in damages and counting, but Crowdstrike knows how to win back the public.

Offers their partners a $10 gift card.
