Remember when most of Europe was a 2nd/3rd world place? Well, they're trying to get back there.

I remember when Europe kicked out the Moops back in the day, but then let them trickle back in, and now want to kick them out again because it wasn't great for them the first time.

You inceptioned it!

Also... That seems like good news. Wonder how far it can go.

Some would say it's not good news considering how harmful growing corn is to the land, and because a lot of it will be used in unhealthy products, like corn syrup.

Yeah, but you can fix with with policy. Stop subsidizing corn.

Tell the assholes in charge!

Why the fuck are we still subsidizing ethanol?!

Ethanol is a hedge against oil issues. Though, we make a shitton of oil.

I get it, but let's backburner that shit until we need it. That alone is hurting the rest of the Ag industry. At least scale it way back.

Does Blackrock, Vanguard, etc. own big oil? How about the energy companies?

For the same reason they need to keep building Abrams tanks in Dayton, even though they're going directly into storage. If we need them immediately, we may not have the 18 months it would take to rebuild that factory/labor force.

If we need ethanol immediately, who even knows if it will be the growing season in the midwest.

even though as little as 10% ethanol will break most current engines.

That's the biggest issue right there. Great that we have reserves, but nothing can use it.

That's why I was asking about the big guns. Our government needs to make a deal with them to end Ethanol and our love of oil. Electric ain't it...not currently.

U.S. Government to oil and energy companies:
"Bring us a car and truck that run on wind, solar, water, or fucking garbage. They must be able to do what any other car on the road does now. No need for additional infrastructure throughout the U.S. Whoever does it gets the patent rights and we'll block everything else for 20 years."

Yeah, there's a million variables there, but create the necessity that inspires the invention.

Well, electric cars run on wind, solar, hydro, and burning garbage, and splitted atoms. The tech is there, they exist. And we could put in the charging stations in a month, if we meant it. And then another month to crush all the lifted coal rollers who feel it's their patriotic duty to block charging stations.

I agree with you on that, but I'm still not sold that electric cars are the solution. Still a lot of pollution charging and building that car. Still the long term issue with the batteries (although, I know they're working on recycling them). I could go into the list you provided and point out issues, but I think that takes us elsewhere and away from the autos. I want to stick with cars.

I don't think anyone would argue EVs are perfect, so let's make them perfect or find a better way.

Electric cars are already better than gasoline cars in all of these respects. They just suck at range.

Super red day in the market. Global sell off, cryptos hit super hard.

Only good news is bonds have dropped to 3.75% for 10 years, down from recent highs around 4.5%, so mortgages will be a little cheaper.
