iPods have the best UI in the business, with that scroll wheel.

The end.

ANd the worse propiatary interface, forcing you to use their crap software for simple things that could have just used the default windows interface? The end?

That's why I won't buy one.

Yeah, I hate iTunes. So does the wife.

But that scrollwheel makes the iPod. And once you buy that....

What's so special about the scroll wheel? I like the Dell scroll wheel.

I should note that I might be biased because it was free and doesn't require that piece of shit iTunes.

iPhones a-go on sale today. The CTO, an Apple polisher, left early to buy one. As he's leaving, the graphics designer says, "Ooh, tell me how it is, I want to know if I should buy one."

Apple polishers & graphics designers -- gentlemen, I give you the Duped.

Early word is that iPhones did not sell out.

Each state I checked here had no sold out stores.

Each CITY did not sell out.

That's not a good sign, I wouldn't think.

That greatly depends on which outcome you desire.

Which makes the people who stood in line for a week even more foolish, non? I'm looking at you, Mayor of Philadelphia.

I heard that every Apple employee got a free iPhone. I wonder if Jobs'll count that towards the initial volume distributed.

I thought pretty much the same thing when I was reading about it in the newspaper today. Plus the idiots that bought a few of them hoping to turn a profit on ebay are fucked.

I drove past an AT&T store last night and saw a long line of jackasses standing there waiting to buy one. All I could think about was how easily people are manipulated by marketing.

This morning they were still selling for $900 on eBay.

They are now selling for $710-850... still above retail.

They're just too expensive.

And if they aren't sold out, that means these people are too stupid to do some simple research and find them not sold out, or they live in remote areas, have no convenient access to a retail outlet selling them, and they also aren't available at any online retailers.

Apparently sold out of several Apple stores in CA, and several AT&T stores across the country. Some analyst things it might come near selling out by the end of the week.

Just read this in another iPhone discussion thread:
there's way to many feature lock downs from not letting you use your MP3 files as ring tones so you'd have to buy ring tones from your cell provider (thus also needing to pay for the data access plans),

That alone would piss me off. That's just dumb.

I look for the iPhone to create a demand for some features that other phone manufacturers will impliment in a more thoughtful way and cheaper.

Apple seems to have this "we know what's best for you and you really don't need those features" arrogance about them that's going to hurt them in the long run, but really help the consumer.

In other words, others WILL copy Apple's iPhone, but they'll do it smarter and cheaper.

Hey, so do their "we know what's best for you and you really don't need to keep your dollars" liberal hippie communist customers.

This explains so much.
