We just watched on of the PBS moon mission documentaries. It only tracked through the Apollo 8 mission. I was struck by their talking about seeing the moon up close for the first time and how quickly they became bored looking at the moon. They said they had instructions and procedures for taking pictures of everything. The described seeing a sliver of color as they rounded the moon on the first orbit around and they were blown away by the Earth and how stunning it looked. Then they were scrambling to get the camera loaded to take some shots and get video because no one thought about that in the mission planning. Which sort of makes sense. They were interested in learning about the moon. It never occurred to anyone that they could also be learning about the earth.

I feel like a) some # of people already think we did find life on Mars, b) a LARGE number of people are in the "we are not alone" camp, etc."It will be revolutionary," Green told the Telegraph. I've honestly never heard a real live Christian being freaked out by the idea that life might be found somewhere else. Most look at the vastness of the Universe and don't think God would let that much go to waste.
