As Democrats go, he's probably one of the more sane ones.

Agreed. And from what I'm reading about some of his earlier positions on issues, he got into politics for the same reasons people used to in this country. Craven opportunity for personal power and wealth. Forget all that "principled" crap.

OMG, Beto was a member of Cult of the Dead Cow. I KNEW HIM

Oh man, I wonder when the rabbit torture porn from that group will come out in the news.
He then connected with another young hacker in the more conservative Texas city of Lubbock who ran a bulletin board called Demon Roach Underground. Known online as Swamp Rat, Kevin Wheeler had recently moved from a university town in Ohio and was having problems adjusting to life in Texas.
I was a member there. Oh man. I never thought the BBS world would be in the news.

Oh.

Backstory: How Reuters uncovered Beto O'Rourke's teenage hacking days
After more than a year of reporting, Menn persuaded O’Rourke to talk on the record. In an interview in late 2017, O’Rourke acknowledged that he was a member of the group, on the understanding that the information would not be made public until after his Senate race against Ted Cruz in November 2018.

You got me, Donald. I read "American Indian" and was like "What new candidate is this?"

I don't want reparations, but I do want people to have as equal a start in life as we can give them (stronger public education, healthcare than we have today).

Ha!

I agree, but I would point out the answer isn't just throwing money at the problem. There needs to be fundamental changes in culture.

No, but seriously, the numbers are interesting:
Image

Black people lead in percentage, but whitey has the most by number.

Relevant because it's another culture thing:

One group of people, according to the statistics, is far more likely to knock you up and then leave never to return (or pay). Now look again at the stats in those two boxes. Culture matters.

So yeah, I'm against just cutting a check. We, literally, need to educate people about the importance of education.

(And while we're at it, maybe not tax people who bust their ass to make it at a 70% rate... Where is the incentive to learn and work when the end of the rainbow is the government's hand in your pocket taking the majority of your money?)

Those stats from here.
“Young people can virtually assure that they and their families will avoid poverty if they follow three elementary rules for success – complete at least a high school education, work full time, and wait until age 21 and get married before having a baby. Based on an analysis of Census data, people who followed all three of these rules had only a 2 percent chance of being in poverty and a 72 percent chance of joining the middle class (defined as above $55,000 in 2010.”

Ron Haskins of the Brookings Institution, testifying before Congress on June 5, 2012

FYI, I wasn't just implying black culture needs to change, that's just a great example. Checkbooks need to be opened, as well as, races, political parties, corporations, etc. all making changes to their cultures/belief systems.

How about instead of constantly raising taxes we cut back on spending? Maybe run the government like a normal, sane, responsible person runs their household. Can't afford that new 12K 5D holographic TV? Guess what, you don't get it!

I forget where else we were discussing this...

New Mexico becomes the 14th state to pledge its electoral votes to popular vote winner.
Democratic state Sen. Carlos Cisneros cosponsored the bill, which was signed by Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Wednesday. Cisneros said he hopes the elimination of the "archaic" Electoral College will give New Mexico more influence in national elections.
It's already been pointed out that the 8 (or so) largest U.S. cities would decide every election if we went by popular vote. If New Mexico thinks they're ignored now, wait until this becomes their reality. (And as I pointed out elsewhere, all the experts think this would get destroyed in the courts.)

The Dems are pushing for an end to the electoral college, want to move the voting age down to 16, and are constantly fighting for illegals to become eligible to vote. Gee, I wonder what their motive is for these moves...?

Based on this obvious ploy to control elections, at what point can it be considered treason? That's not hyperbole. If one games the system to essentially rig every election in their favor, isn't that treasonous?

I think once the flyover states really start being ignored in presidential elections, we'll get this civil war started proper.

Joe Biden jokes about the allegations against him.

Reaction from the MSM and others on the left has not been good.

I'm kind of rooting for him now. Fight back against accusations! They're not proof of shit and need to stop being treated as concrete evidence of wrongdoing.
