True, I'm just played off Trump's stated intentions to not defend Obamacare in court. Meaning, they're more than content to just let it die.

No matter your feelings on it, this is the fate it needed. The whole "force people to buy something" had to go.

I still don't know why they can't just have people without insurance sign up with the government, and then the government offers that list to insurance companies and they go with the lowest bidder.

Was looking into the AFFORDABLE Care Act for my kid, looking at my options, after the divorce. Getting him covered through the ACA was still going to cost me over $400/month.

"Health Insurance" isn't going to be fixed until we destroy health insurance companies. At that point hospitals will bring health care costs down to what people can actually afford on their own, or they'll go out of business and some more efficient entity will fill the gap.

But nope.... too many lawmakers getting paid by insurance companies to not let that happen.

When I initially saw the story, I thought, "I wonder why", and then I remembered Russia.

What's worse: Trump bending knee to Russia or Obama bending knee to everyone but Russia? I honestly don't know.

Personally I think it's very important we keep fighting in as many wars as possible, forever.

You know how Dems call Trump evil for wanting to save coal?

More coal plants have closed under Trump than Obama, and that also makes him evil.

I don't give a fuck about coal. It needs to go bye bye as it pollutes WAY too much. However, I thought this was a funny example of how no matter what, Trump's an asshole.

Mericans blame Trump for shutdown and are against the wall.

This is CNN polling, so take it with a grain of salt.

The wall continues to be one of the stupidest ideas ever.

Trump being to blame for the shutdown is fine, but Dems are equally to blame and anyone arguing otherwise is just being biased. Both of these moronic, corrupt, and selfish parties have abandoned compromise and both just want their way or they're not doing shit.

The government shutdown affects neither in any way. They still get paid. (Even if the government stopped paying them...)

In other news, there's a U.S. Navy vet imprisoned in Iran. It'd be nice if our government gave a fuck and got him out. (IF he's being detained for nothing. If the guy robbed a store or something, then leave him.)

I would argue that the parties are selfish, because their constituents are as well. Any politician that would bend would not be reelected and chastised by their party.. So, people are just as much to blame. Hell, when Trump and Clinton are our choices. . . . someone fucked up somewhere. And I would argue that it wasn't congress.

I'm not convinced of how stupid an idea it is. To be honest, I just don't know. But if opening the government is so important, why don't they just fund it and move on. It's disingenuous as hell to be saying it's too expensive while lobbying for Medicare for all. Let's be honest, the government routinely pisses away $5 billion each year.

Socialism is as stupid an idea as the wall. That's the real problem. We've got two parties going to war over how to best waste taxpayer money.

Here's why the wall is ignorant:
1. It's going to cost a metric fuckton.
2. It will be completely ineffective.

Penn & Teller had a show called bullshit where they took the actual plans for a proposed border wall and had illegals they grabbed from outside a Home Depot build it. Once done, they then had the illegals try to go over, under, and through it. All were successful in ridiculously fast times.

Build the wall out of solid steel. Bury it 30 feet underground. Have it stand 50 feet tall and line it with razor wire.

It doesn't matter. It will NOT stop people with nothing but time.

If you want to stop illegals you can't plug the hole because the hole is infinite. You need to instead remove their incentive.
1. Invest in their countries. We spend trillions around the world. There's no reason we can't start swinging our big American dick to the south and start boosting, at the very least, Mexico.
2. Immediately legalize marijuana federally.
3. Make it a violation of federal law to provide public funds/support to illegals. Take all the funds and law enforcement previously used against pot and use it here. Arrest politicians who pass laws funneling money/aid to illegals, try them in federal court, and imprison them. Stop playing grab ass and start locking people up. The free ride for 11 million people needs to end.

Point being, make it unattractive for illegals to come here and they'll stop. Some wall isn't going to stop them as long as once they get past it they're giving free money, free education, free health care, etc.

NOTE: "Illegals" is the key word. This does NOT, in any way, apply to legal immigrants, those on visas, tourists, etc.

Of course the wall won't work. But the government is good at doing stuff that doesn't work but costs a fuckton.

2/3. So the war on drugs switches to a war on illegals? I feel like that would be just as big a waste of time/money. Don't jail drug offenders, but jail 'employers'? Both are just as detrimental to society as the other. Plus, legalizing weed isn't going to cause a huge pile of money to appear because all the problems of weed go away. Weed will always cost us a fuckton because people can't take care of themselves.

11 million people. To jail their support system is impossible.

I've always thought automated gun turrets all along the border that target everything bigger than a coyote was a good idea. Lotsa signs, and if you ignore them, it's your own damned fault. That's suicide-by-border wall.

And yeah, a wall isn't going to stop people for long, but I think the idea is that the roving patrols can pay attention to the guy walking toward the border, carrying a ladder.

Also maybe land mines.

Also maybe annex the rest of Mexico.

They've been detecting tunnels since the Korean War ended.

I'm just saying there's more effort involved in just walking across the border, when there's a wall. You're either carrying a ladder, building a catapult, or you're digging a tunnel. It takes effort and subterfuge and it'll get caught eventually. It does serve a purpose.
