West Virginia has decided to try out online voting in the midterm elections for 2018.

This guy decided to take a deeper look at their site

Read it. Holy fuck.

I think the current bar is set at a billion dollars for a functional government website.

Software devs are expensive.

You should get back in the game.

Most of my software engineering friends are also terrified of self-driving cars.

Not me, though.

So clearly they are terrible engineers, and I am a very good one :)

I always assumed it was because the end-user software was only a small part of the equation, the signal is out of the devopers hands between client and server, and can be attacked. Not to mention hardware flaws, also out of the software person's hands. Software person can't guarantee shit.

I have a PhD in robotics. I actually am not afraid of self-driving cars per se. My gut tells me that if we had mostly self-driving cars, overall highway fatalities would go way down.

HOWEVER. I also think self-driving cars would kill people in ways that no human driver would conceive of. Like driving into a lake or some shit.

Also assassinations.

Well yeah. It's easy to make a secure piece of software. Just have it do nothing. But then it has to talk to other pieces of software, and oh yeah - It needs to have an override to for mistakes, and it needs a backdoor so we can service it, etc, etc, etc. And then it's swiss cheese at best.

Florida Governor race: Trump-candidate vs progressive-Bernie candidate.

I feel like both parties are going the wrong direction here, but oh well, Fuck America.

Ditto.

Florida gonna Florida. The Republican candidates uses the word monkey (As a verb) to discuss his competitor's campaign.

Prompt racism cues.

I used to use the word "Monkey" as a SFW curse word around my kids ("Go monkey!" When driving, stuff like that). Then I yelled at a football player, calling him a monkey (on the TV), like I would anyone else... and had Howard Cosell flashbacks. Realized I had to stop.

Florida keeps Florida'ing... although, really, is it Idaho that's responsible?

Racist robocalls
The 78-second prerecorded message, obtained by CNN, is narrated by a man speaking in a caricature of a black dialect with cartoonish jungle noises in the background. It ends with a disclaimer that it was paid for by The Road to Power, a white supremacist and anti-Semitic video podcast hosted by Scott Rhodes of Idaho.
The phone message went to Florida residents, but it's unclear how many received it. The Tallahassee Democrat first reported the robocall.
The same neo-Nazi group recently sponsored robocalls in Iowa, using Mollie Tibbetts' death to attack Latinos and promote white supremacy, the Des Moines Register reported. There have also been reports the group previously targeted local officials in California, Virginia and Washington state.

I listened to the interview. This is people looking for an excuse to call someone racist. Obama spoke of both parties monkeying around with elections a few years back. Perhaps his racist mother's half made him do it.

In this case, I agree 100%. This is simply trying to use a popular turn of phrase against a person because they're white and Republican.

Just saw a clip from an interview where he was trying to explain how he was going to pay for his socialist programs without raising taxes. Understandable why he'd go to "my opponent is a racist!"

I voted.

I really wanted a GFY option for most offices, or maybe even a straight-'party' GFY option.

Since it was all regional and I didn't know nothing about nobody, I voted Ds for all AGs and judges, and Rs for all money stuff.
