I think it's reasonable. We can't just pike on more debt.

Again, since he's been a Democrat for most of his life...

He is going to push his $1T infrastructure plan. That's why he is hiring Mitch McConnel's wife as Transportation Secretary (the department in which most of this funding will pass through). An attempt to grease the skids in the Senate. Smart move on his part, but a bullet in the head of any hope of fiscal responsibility from this administration.

The first of what I'm sure will be many "fuck this orange asshole" posts.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s plan to “kill all” the country’s suspected drug users and dealers has many foreign critics, including the United States, the European Parliament and the International Criminal Court. It now has at least one high-profile supporter: President-elect Donald Trump, at least according to Duterte.

In a statement Saturday, Duterte shared details of a seven-minute conversation that took place Friday. He said that during the call, Trump endorsed his campaign against drug users and dealers — a campaign that has left at least 4,500 Filipinos dead in about five months. Trump told Duterte that he was doing it the “right way,” according to Duterte’s account.
Shades of Daryl Fucking Gates.
The comments, which have not been confirmed by Trump’s team, could signal another significant twist in U.S.-Philippine ties.
Nor denied. Any direct conversation with Rodrigo Duterte which doesn't involve a strong recommendation for him to take some anti-anxiety or anti-psychotic meds seems very irresponsible.

I think someone needs to sit down and discuss with Trump, from a business standpoint, what a great deal legalizing drugs would be in the U.S.

I honestly don't think he has the mental wherewithal to digest and correctly interpret that argument in any logical fashion.

I don't understand why anyone has any real aversion to the idea, personally, aside from being taught, "Drugs are bad." I feel like if you give it any real consideration, there's no reason to keep them illegal aside from the 10% who will go off the deep end with them. Thing is, those 10% are going to go off the deep end over something else anyway, they always do.

In my opinion.

When the weed thing was on Ohio's ballot a couple years ago, the wife asked how I voted, after. I said I voted to legalize it. That surprised her, she asked why. "Because I like more freedom over less freedom." She hadn't ever given it any thought before, outside of "Drugs are bad."

Oh, I understand the opposition. But one has to, at some point, have the balls to let people self-destruct on their own if that's what they choose.

I think the damage the war on drugs is doing is a magnitude greater than allowing a handful of people to self destruct.

Even if it were legalized there are about 5 heavy reasons why I wouldn't partake, and I think most mature, responsible people would have the same position.

Agreed on #1

I would partake if legal, but similar to how I do for alcohol, not too much, and I wouldn't smoke it.

One of my reasons is that I have better things to do with my money, so I more than likely wouldn't buy it.

Maybe if it were being handed out at a party or something.

I just don't need to get my mind altered.

Says the guy that makes his own mind-altering drugs at home as a hobby.

Me, I don't drink, but I'd occasionally toke if it were legal. But weed's still not my drug of choice.

Over the past few years, booze lost its allure. The past few months, bud has followed. Not that I'm completely stopping either, but the frequency has nosedived.

I would have voted against it had I still lived in the state.

Not because I'm against legalizing pot, but because it came with the caveat that only certain people were allowed to grow and sell it, and those people were already decided in closed door meetings. Fuck that.

That's why it failed too. People learned from the gambling they legalized where only one vendor has the right to open a casino and only at specific addresses in the state.

That's not freedom, that's corruption.

Yeah, I know that reason. And it was just one of those things that I knew my vote didn't really matter, so I voted for the bigger picture of "legalizing it" even if it was already a done deal that only corrupt fuckers would sell it. I figured baby steps.

Because Ben Carson, god's own neurosurgeon, needs a cabinet post.
President-elect Dipshit Extraordinaire Donald Trump intends to nominate retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson to run the Department of Housing and Urban Development, an unconventional choice that underscores Trump’s willingness to forgo traditional policy expertise any sense of logic or reason in some Cabinet positions to surround himself with allies people who will fellate his ego, all day, every day.

Really?
He insisted he has nothing to do with the “divided states of America” that Time says he will lead. “When you say divided states of America, I didn’t divide them,” he told NBC. “I’m not president yet, so I didn’t do anything to divide.”
