Optimism?
Overall, the vast majority of bets on the Browns to win the Super Bowl are tiny. Some were even done as a joke, like Chris Hovan's $5 ticket placed at Bally's during an annual March Madness trip to Las Vegas with friends.
"It was made strictly as a joke," Hovan, a 35-year-old maintenance worker in Brooklyn, Ohio, told ESPN. "I just wanted to place the ticket on the wall of my bar in the basement. I've been a season-ticket holder for 14 years and I know that the Browns are going to be horrible again this year."

Guess who's been scraping the NFL logo off his preseason game helmets? My mistake, I meant to say guess who had the equipment gophers scrape the NFL logo off his preseason helmets. Wonder if he was smart enough not to text them this time.

Re: NFL
Ooooooff. Great game. The game the superbowl should have been.
How can the NFL refs give cam ZERO protection like that? Has anyone ever seen a QB take more head-shots in one game. ONE got called, which was offest (and they somehow figured getting absolutely head hunted had nothing to do with that grounding)

Re: NFL
Those hits in gif goodness
First gif was not helmet to helmet. Just a hard hit.
Second gif is targeting. Expect a fine and/or suspension. He's launching himself. Also, please note the face mask penalty occurring in the background.
Third gif is nothing. It's so nothing that including it as an example here hurts the credibility of the argument being made.
Fourth gif is borderline. The defender clearly shifts his head trying to avoid leading with it.
As an unbiased observer, I think Marshall should have been ejected after the hit in the second gif.
Also, in the interest of fairness, Von Miller was being held all night and it resulted in zero flags.

Re: NFL
Outside of the Von Miller one(which was a weird combo tackle, not a penalty), i'm seeing guys leaving their feet and leading with the crown of the helmet into Cam's head. It's surreal.
It's not just that it would be called for other QBs, it's more like if that happened to other QBs, they'd be in the hospital. If it was Peyton last year he might be dead. Just because Cam is tough as nails, doesn't mean it should be totally ignored.
And a flagrant targeting headshot foul offset by a grounding penalty? Are you kidding me NFL? They've been talking big about player safety for the last two years, and this shit happens in the opener. It's all just surreal.
I'm not super bummed about the loss, it was a great game. But it was just painful watching Cam play out there tonight, I like to think he has a life after football that doesn't involve being fed through a tube.

Re: NFL
#1 was questionable, I see leaving feet, I see helmet leading, but he throws his hands at the last second.
#2 is flagrant. Enjoy your ban.
#3 - Yeah, I see helmet contact, but not leading or dangerous, just accidental.
#4 - Clearly leading with his head, then trying to shift at the last second.

Re: NFL
Well, people keep saying Cam is like Big Ben, so welcome to my world. Our QBs are big, so they take a lot more shots and there are no flags thrown. Try playing against Brady every year where you get to watch flags fly everywhere if people breath on him while your QB takes a pummeling. Maybe that's why I don't see some of those hits as big deals? They've desensitized me?
The first gif at that link is a football play. He clearly hits Cam in the shoulder with his shoulder. He also doesn't launch himself. He simply leaves his feet. There is a difference. If we argue that one, put the fucking QBs in red shirts and tie some flags around their waist.
The Marshall one is text book targeting. He, literally, launches himself with a jump and goes right after Cam's head. Again, the NFL will come down on him Tuesday when they typically hand out punishments (or is it Wednesday?). This should not have been offset by any other penalty. He should have been ejected. (Interesting that the guy who took a knee to protest a social issue before the game was the one who made the dirtiest play in the game...)
We don't need to talk about the non-hit that was Miller's.
That last one is incidental. It should have been flagged because the helmets hit, but it's not targeting. He didn't launch himself and he did try to tuck his head and lead with his shoulder. Cam actually made the helmets hit by lowering his helmet.
By the way, don't excuse the Panthers. I'm not a doctor, but Cam looked shaken up. I question their coaches and medical staff for letting him continue playing.

Please show me how you tackle someone without leading with your head. They mean using your head as a battering ram. Tackling with your shoulders, like he was trying to do, (which is terrible form, but the standard for DBs) is legal.#4 - Clearly leading with his head, then trying to shift at the last second.

Without that rushing TD, he puts up a very mediocre stat line. Seems like rattling works.
