The WWE scripts stories. Wrestlers script matches.

The NFL teaches people how to hit, where to hit, and at what speed. It also creates the rules for hitting.

The NFL is far easier to blame CTE on than a bunch of writers.

Someone higher than the talent calls the wins. If they let the wrestlers script the matches, neither would want to lose. That's been a point of contention in past championship matches.

You don't understand.

The writers script the feuds and who wins. The talent script the matches. Scripting a match doesn't mean determining a winner.

They're told: Wrestler A wins clean. You have 20 minutes.

The wrestlers then go out and script the match. They discuss the spots they want to hit and then go perform it.

Alright, I guess if you take the win/lose out of the match, then you're still left with athletes being required to perform increasingly dangerous stunts or risk getting demoted to undercard and underpaid status.

That's not really true either. :D

Believe it or not, you don't want your top stars performing dangerous stunts because if they get hurt, you lose your drawing power. It's the same reason Hollywood has stunt men and women. You don't put your stars in harm's way.

Aside from Mick Foley, no main event star does any of the insanely dangerous stunts. That's mid-card stuff.

Boyziel's offseason training regimen.
According to chronicler of all-things-after-dark-Manziel TMZ, the former Browns quarterback got into a fight with a friend at a wedding in Hawaii over the weekend.

I can't believe I'm advising this, but Lev Bell needs to cut back on whatever he's smoking.
In response to a fan posting a picture on Instagram with a gas mask bong superimposed on Bell's head, Bell responded from his verified account: "I'm not going to miss games, trust me." This was not an official statement issued by Bell, whose agent, Adisa Bakari, has not responded to messages for comment.

Just heard NFL is reinstating Josh Gordon.. But he will be suspended for the first 4 games..

I've just about had it with this guy, but his talent is intoxicating. I don't know what they will do with this guy, he just can't stay clean.

I suppose with all the players getting arrested for beating the shit out of people, they have to tone down the penalties for drug use. This sounds great until he gets tests positive two or three times this preseason.

Are you kidding? Imagine the comedic possibilities. The two of them have a better chance landing in a new buddy comedy with James Franco and Seth Rogan than they do succeeding on the football field ever again.

Its funny you say that.. Many people in Cleveland media think that they are angling for their own reality TV show "Josh & Johnny" I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if E! picks them up, it would probably do well knowing how much American's love train wreck television.

Brown is reporting to camp.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but there's heat on Mike Tomlin right now. The offense is awesome, obviously, but the defense, his specialty, has been shitty, and the off field distractions caused by his players are not making management happy despite their love for Mike as a person.

In an earth-shattering announcement, the Chiefs say Jamaal won't start the season due to injury.

The two trainwreckiest QB situations in the league are still up in the air:
Broncos quarterback: Mark Sanchez vs. Trevor Siemian vs. Paxton Lynch
...
Browns quarterback: Robert Griffin III vs. Josh McCown vs. Cody Kessler
If you combined all six of those players, you still wouldn't have half a real QB.

NFL continues its fantasy that it really, really wants to minimize concussions.
ince early 2015, it has thrown much of its weight and money behind Heads Up Football, a program run by USA Football that teaches youth football coaches safety precautions and drills to ensure proper tackling form. The NFL and USA Football claimed that an independent study showed that the program reduced injuries by 76 percent and concussions by 30 percent.

That sounds great! Except, according to a New York Times report, those claims are not substantiated. The Times reviewed the study by Datalys, a sports injury research firm, and found that youth leagues that used Heads Up Football by itself did not see a reduction in in-game injuries, and that the number of concussions actually went up, albeit by a statistically insignificant margin.
...
One positive takeaway from the report is that Pop Warner Football leagues have had success at reducing injuries by eliminating dangerous head-on tackling drills and reducing full-contact practice time. Those adjustments made by Pop Warner leagues appear to account for Datalys’ preliminary findings of drastically reduced injuries, not Heads Up Football.
No shit.

Goddamnit, Phil Loadholt retired. One of the few respectable members of the O-line in Minnesota. Teddy might be getting involved in more sacks than Kurt Warner, even if you include all the ones from his supermarket checkout boy days.
