So I now have frigates 4 and cruisers 2. What exactly do I need to do to get money? I'm making cash, but sloooowly.

Also, is Learning 5 worth the several days training? Will it do much to reduce the training time for other skills? If not, what's the best route for such a goal?

I'd go Memory 5, and then buy the next level and go up to Mem+8 before learning to 5, where it's capped.

"Eidetic Memory," or some such. Troy sez it sells for aboyt 2.5 mil.

As for money, Catt gave me about a 6mil cash infusiion which bought my cruiser, full insurance, and gear to equip it.

Hint: the majority of the stuff you use on your frigate are near worthless on your cruiser. I have a fully equipped Merlin ready to go to "get the loot off my body," but then I sold or smelted the rest of my frigate gear.

Leisher, I'll build you a Caracal.

Next time your in game and I'm on you can pick it up. Buy a shuttle and a 10mn Afterburner and I'll supply everything else.

After that, you can do Level 2 missions, or hunt in nearby .3 asteroid belts. Both are very profitable.

It's not me, it's someone else.

After reading Gordon's "paid for equipment for it" statement, I want to make it known that I have a TON of cruiser equip as well. I of course keep all the best stuff I find!! But, I have a TON of heavy launchers, various guns/blasters, and both can come in various named levels. I have afterburners, cap boosters, WCS, Scramblers, etc, etc. So, check the corp hangar before buying stuff.

As to making money, if money is your goal few things make more money faster (at least at our level of experience) than running a trading ship, buying low and selling high. Toss in cross-region trading, and I was making about 1.5 mil and hour on average.

It does get dull, though. And the best deals will almost always take you through pirate space in a relatively unprotected ship.

Learning V reduces by another 2% the amount of time it takes to learn anything else. So, yes, it is advantageious over the long term, but upping mem & int are only important.

It will be MUCH appreciated. I've been very bored running countless lvl 1 missions.

I believe Malcolm made the first claim to it.

So, check the corp hangar before buying stuff.

At this point I honestly wouldn't know what's worth keeping and what's not. That's one of the main reasons I've digging on the idea of Troy building me a ship. He seems to have a good grasp of the game thus far, and will spec it out nicely. I can train my skills accordingly.

Hell, I've still got a LOT of items as I pretty much haven't sold anything yet from all my lvl 1 missions. I don't know what to keep and what to toss.

What to keep and what to toss. For each item, check the market value (what people are buying/selling for). If it's priced high, then keep/sell it. If it's valued low, reproccess it. My rule of thumb is if it's 50k or higher, use it, or sell it on the market. If it's lower, reproccess it. I will also keep things like heavy launchers, which are realatively cheap, but, if people are dying, we'll go through them quicker and saving them cuts down on the re-equip traveling.

As far as Troy specing your ship, alot of that is 'load it, see if it works'. Meaning, depending on your engineering skills and elec skills (which give bonuses to cpu and grid) you will be able to load different things. So, you might have to get the ship, then sit in the hangar and try various things on till you find a load that gives you the most you can have at that skill level.
