I remember hearing that people did a study, and the average time it took for people to pull out of a parking lot went up significantly if someone else was waiting for the spot.
I'm the kind of guy who jogs across a crosswalk if I see there's a car that wants to turn when I'm walking. I think there's a lot of other people like me, who will try to pull their car out faster if a car is waiting, which means that there is a certain percentage of the population who wait EVEN LONGER if they see that someone else wants their spot.

I would bet most people pull out more slowly not because they are being jerks but because they are being extra careful since there's a car right in the way that they can't see around. The real test is the crosswalk. I'm the type to hurry quicker to get out of the way, but there are some slow-ass people that just don't give a shit.
And here's where it will become potentially racist, but I've been paying attention to the crosswalks on the college campus and 100% of white, latinos, and asians will hussle a bit to cross quicker when a car is waiting while 100% of blacks will walk across at a snail's pace regardless. In the five years I was paying attention every workday I never saw a single exception to those statements.

I've seen a larger spectrum of slow walkers, but I'll say I've noticed a similar trend. I heard such sentiments echoed a decade ago.
