TV: Firefly

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Yeah, there is, but it'd take some creative thinking to make it interesting. They covered a lot of ground in this one.

Maybe make one where they go back in time to save the whales on Earth That Was.

There are room for sequels. I do recommend watching the series prior to the movie. There is a definitively different feel. Also, the time passed is a few months after the series. If you listened carefully, Mal stated in the movie that River and Simon had been on board for 8 months.

I will have to watch it again.

Everyone needs to see this movie. Hell my brother never saw the series and he thought it was the best sci fi he had seen in many many years. He borrowed my DVD of the series now... I fear I erred there and may not see them again.

There room for sequels, then?
I just got back from my second watching, and I'm going to say no. I hope they don't make any more.

Every story has to have an ending, and this is the right place to end it for Firefly. Which I conjure would make it the most solid ending to a franchise in entertainment history.

I've been watching the series again, and I am still bewildered at how FOX managed to fuck this up.

They had the next Star Trek.

And how the hell did the Sci-Fi channel let it go? Too busy making the worst movies in the history of mankind I guess.

I think the root problem is that those in charge of making decisions at SyFy don't like science fiction, and those at Fox don't like television shows.

You wish.

Although, it does explain how "Sex in the City" was on the air so long.

The bluray of the complete series is currently $26.99 on amazon. I've heard this is the lowest it has ever been. Might be a 1-day thing. Jump on it.

I really liked Mr. Robot season 2, that's a poor choice of an example. But I get the point here. I think Firefly could have one or two more good seasons of stories to tell, but I wouldn't want to see it come back and then end up being around too long.

Really I think the best hope for more good Firefly is that it gets a well-done reboot in another decade. Preferably with a story about other characters on another ship in the same universe.

Nathan just doesn't want to lose the weight needed to be Cap'n Tightpants again.
