Halo

For example, will he be replacing all the guns with walkie-talkies?
Spielberg regretted being talked into editing his movie by Lucas, so starting a while back BD copies of ET had the guns put back in... or never removed... or whatever.
If I recall correctly. Read about it, never bought the disk.
That doesn't speak to future movies, though. Did Booth have a gun in Lincoln, or did he bash Lincoln's head in with a walkie talkie? Can't think of the most recent Spielberg flick I saw to make a comparison.

I think the most recent Spielberg movie I saw was Indiana Jones 4. Before that was the new War of the Worlds. Before that was AI.
When was the last time he made a good movie?
EDIT: Actually, it seems he did Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal, both of which I rather liked. But that doesn't really help with his recent Sci Fi cred.

Last good movie he directed? Schindler's List.
Last good movie he had a significant part of? Letters From Iwo Jima.
Last non-shitty sci-fi movie he was anywhere near? MiB 2.
Think he needs to be put out to pasture.

I disagree.
He's had his hand in other good movies and TV shows recently.
I definitely think Spielberg has tried some new things lately, but I think he can still do a good job when he tries.
If he treats Halo like Saving Private Ryan in space, it might be pretty fantastic.

“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”
So Halo the movie is gone.
However, Spielberg is making it into a TV show.
The guy who made District 9 will direct the pilot.
That's promising.
