A black girl is taken out of her inner city school ("the only reason to go to school is to get pregnant, drunk, high, or killed") to a good private school by parents who care. Then she sees her best friend killed by a policeman, and it shakes up how she perceives life, and those around her.
A teenage girl picked the movie, last night.
Very much a BLM movie, and very timely as I was told it came out only a few months before the neck kneeler.
At the end of the movie I told her, "I usually don't pick entertainment for the purpose of getting sad."

My daughter read the book last year, and maybe have watched the movie, unsure. I haven’t done either. Guess it doesn’t have a happy ending?
It's not me, it's someone else.
The Hate U Give
Yes and no.
