The Wrong Missy (2020)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

The Wrong Missy (2020)

Post by Leisher »

Netflix

One of Sandler's Productions.

David Spade, who seems to have aged a lot since the last one of these, is single after Sarah Chalke left him. He goes on a blind date and meets Melissa, Lauren Lapkus, who turns out to be a complete lunatic. (Not the killer type.) After the date he meets Melissa, Molly Sims, at the airport and they hit it off as they have tons in common. He invites Melissa to a company retreat in Hawaii, but realizes too late he invited the wrong Melissa. Hijinx ensue.

Other standard Sandler folks are here: Nick Swardson (whose head looks massive), Rob Schneider, Jackie Sandler (his wife), and his nephew is in the movie as well. You'll recognize some other faces too.

Lots of the movie is that awkward humor. You know where someone is acting in ways nobody ever would and it makes you feel awkward to watch? Like Michael Scott in The Office. That's most of Missy's shtick. Lapkus honestly kills it in her role.

It's fine. It's not as good as that spy one Sandler and Spade did a few years ago. It's not perfectly formulaic, but it's close. There are chuckles. Again, it's fine.

Also, I am officially putting Sarah Chalke in my list.
“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”
