The latest in the series and this one celebrates...first day of school, I guess? Seems like holidays are out the window at this point as the longer this series goes on the less they relate to the holiday theme.
A group of kids are in school for Saturday detention and being watched by the assistant principal. There is an urban legend about this school because kids go missing every year. It seems a teacher was once murdered by students here and left to rot somewhere in the school.
Yep, it's The Breakfast Club getting murdered.
After a string of bad movies in this series, this was actually an ok horror film. It doesn't revolutionize the genre, but it's fine.
The acting is exactly at the level as you would expect for a B level horror, and the casting is a who's who of who the fuck are these people. The kids also act really stupid, but it works if you can accept that kids are stupid. Also, once you get to the end you'll probably do a "wait, then how did...". Let's be honest, they are probably hoping you forgot about it (the many "its").
I will let you know that the story isn't as cut and dry as you think. There's a twist and then a twist. The second twist is actually kind of fun because it makes you realize the good guys didn't win. That may seem like a spoiler, but it's not.
The best part of the movie though is the black guy that they dress up in a basketball uniform and make hold a basketball in every scene. WTF were they thinking?
A shockingly ok horror film. Very "by the numbers" but a late twist should make you chuckle.
