It's 9/11/01 and you know what happened. A special forces team gets activated with their green Captain. They get sent to Afghanistan and the captain convinces the in the field commander to send his unit on what is essentially an impossible mission.
What follows is insane. Tons of action. No idea how much of it is real. Only one scene is obviously bullshit and it's in there as a "this is who we're fighting". So it's a scene that has played out certainly, but did this guy do this at this point in time? Who knows.
Chris Hemsworth is the green captain. Michael Shannon is his retiring sergeant. Michael Pena and Trevante Rhodes are in the unit. (The two most familiar faces I noticed.) Rob Riggle is a CO who doesn't make a single joke. William Fitchner shows up with an oddly shaped bald head.
Really good film, particularly to watch around the 4th or Memorial Day or Veteran's Day. Stick around for the "here's what happened" breakdown that runs before the credits.
