So Stanley Tucci is the dad in a normal suburban family except his daughter is deaf. That's when monsters show up that hunt and kill people based upon sound.

What? What do you mean that sounds familiar? You're nuts. Stop interjecting and let me continue...

So he takes his family through this devastated world seeking a place called "The Refuge" and runs across evil or misguided folks who have turned this incident into the basis of a cult.

What? What do you mean that's the plot of "the other one"?

Yes, this movie is quite literally an amalgam of "A Quiet Place" and "Birdbox". This time the monsters are from within the Earth, and there are billions, if not trillions of them. They've evolved to not need sight, but rather sound and they're ultra aggressive.

Ok, if you enjoy nature and science you already have problems with the movie. Developing sound over eyesight is fine, but why did they evolve or de-evolve the ability to fly? What exactly have they been living off of for presumably thousands or even millions of years? It would have to be quite substantial to support the billions/trillions of them. I could go on.

There's a LOT of bad writing in the movie. For example: They will just scream at some loud noises, but will attack softer noises depending on what's needed in the plot at that moment. There's also a moment late in the film that as a father I found to be ridiculous. I won't ruin it for you, so I'll change the situation to explain the absurdity: Would you act like nothing is happening and go to sleep with your family in a home that you discovered is burning down? Yeah, nobody would.

I was entertained, but that's because the premise is in my wheelhouse. The acting and effects far outpaced the awful writing.

If you enjoyed the other two, you'll probably like this, just don't expect it to be anything more than a pale imitation of the others.

Forgot to mention that there is one hilarious scene that inadvertently shows how easily these monsters could be wiped out. I mean to extinction.

The commercial made.this.look like an obvious allegory for what it's like to.be a conservative in Hollywood. The social media sjw swarms come as soon as you make a peep, and destroy your life, until civilization is destroyed.
