Occupation (2018)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

It's on Netflix.

It would go from mediocre to really bad to really not bad to almost good back to bad to really stupid, then flow around between those here and there. Over all, it's pretty bad. It's bad because they didn't know how to get dramatic or create a tense situation. No matter how hard they tried, they failed with poor writing and over acting. When things were normal humans vs alien fighting, etc, it was fine. But again, when they really tried to get tense or dramatic, they failed. Couldn't pull it off and it pulled you right out of the movie. You'd almost get to the point where you care about a character, and then they'd do something that reminded you it was a movie and you didn't care as much anymore.

Think Red Dawn, in Australia, with Aliens, but random people instead of high schoolers.

Netflix

Australian movie. Think Red Dawn combined with Battle Los Angeles only set in Australia.

It's strangely paced and seems long. Lots of relationship moments that have no impact as all the characters are pretty shallow. There are a couple of weird montages that don't work in 2018. Action picks up later, but the camera angles are really weird at times. Like the final battle where they do first person shots out of nowhere.

The whole thing is just all over the place. I don't think they knew what kind of film they wanted.

Not horrible, but not particularly good.

I felt slightly different than Leisher did, only last month.

Merged.

I didn't see your previous post, but that's pretty cool that we described it the same way.
