I can't believe there's not a thread for this.

Anyway, it's on TV, and I really like near the end when what's his name is squaring off with the alien in the living room, with the baseball bat. The imagery is that of a reluctant but determined warrior, fighting a monster with a sword. I like it.

Ditto. It never looked good to me. Plus, the ending was spoiled and it sounded really stupid.

It's like a decade old. I did nothing wrong.

For me it was kind of like The Village in that the bulk of the movie was under served by the ending. Actually had some good creepy parts in the film. The ending just sort of was meh.

More like 2 decades...

Spoiler alert:

The aliens invaded a planet made of 71% water, which is completely and utterly deadly to them. Also they apparently had no higher intelligence outside of space travel, so no research on the fact that water literally falls from the sky on this planet.

They blew their "wetsuit" budget by carving strange symbols in corn fields. The end.

Background newscasters in the movie speculated that the aliens were there to snatch people and leave, and apparently a lot of them got snatched. It shouldn't be assumed that the aliens failed in their mission, just because it was a hostile atmosphere.

Yeah, ok, I've heard this before.

They’re not aliens. They’re demons.

That’s why SOME water (“holy” water) hurts them.

Also why they can leap over buildings but can’t break out of a fucking pantry.

The fact that one of you says they're aliens and the other demons pretty much sums up how well the movie was executed.

I will gladly continue to not see it.

Plus, I saw The Happening and that was fucking dreadful.

(I didn't mind The Village, but it should have been a short, not a feature film.)

There were spaceships. Saying they're demons is an interpretation of meaning.

Are you sure there were space ships?

It was strongly implied they were. That bird even hit a cloaked one and fell out of the sky.

Unless there's some demon mythology thing that involve formations of lights and cloaked ships in the sky.

And crop circle navigation aids easily seen from high altitude.

Don't argue with Thib's memory.

I mean, unless you're talking about Yemen Qatar.

Don't argue with my memory when I watched it last night.

For me, it's interesting speculation that they were demons, but there isn't enough evidence in the movie to convince me of that.

Oh, also, the alien RF signals could be picked up over the baby monitor. Demons aren't usually depicted with hands-free headsets.

Also, Leisher watches so many shit movies that I've never heard of, I don't know why he's giving a hard pass to this.

That's a fair point. I think it's because I already KNOW that it sucks.

I was willing to give it a viewing while I was playing a game, but I just looked and it doesn't appear to be on any free services at the moment.

I watch movies just because of Mel Gibson. This one was an easy choice.
