Hereditary (2018)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Hereditary (2018)

Post by Leisher »

So a grandma dies and the mom, who didn't have a great relationship with her, is grieving. She has a son, a husband, and a special needs kid still in her life.

So after a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time of nothing happening, something happens that is a genuine surprise. That's when the movie just starts doing gimmicky scares and it all just sucks.

Fuck all you people who love demon and ghost movies. They're stupid as shit because the filmmakers can change the rules anytime they want. A story has no importance if there is no hope of winning. That's just torture porn.

Well acted, well shot, but ultimately way too long and pointless.

Hereditary (2018)

Post by GORDON »

My 3rd A24 film I've watched in the last week.

IMO:

Midsommar - Good
The Lighthouse - Bad
Hereditary - Somewhere in the middle?

I feel like if I watch it from the beginning, knowing what was explained in the last 30 seconds of the film, I might appreciate it more. But as Leisher said, if you don't know what's happening, it's a whole lot of nothing for the first hour. Nice gimmick, but bad storytelling.

The last 15 minutes has some of the spookiest stuff I've ever seen on film.

Also, this film company has a thing for triangles.
