A dark "comedy" starring Matt Damon and Julianne Moore (she plays twin sisters). Written by the Coen Brothers, George Clooney, and some other dude. Directed by George Clooney.
I made you aware of the writers and director because you're going to get some politics thrown at you.
This movie is two stories in one that are only connected because they're in proximity to one another. Oh, and because of racism.
The first story is about a black family that moves into an all white suburb. All the crackers are up in arms and protest outside the perfectly nice black family's home. As the movie goes on, the protests become more and more violent. Meanwhile, all the news coverage is nothing more than sound bites from honkies saying ignorant, racist shit. You know...as they do...
The second story, and really the main one, happens behind the black family's house. In this house Matt Damon is married to Rose who is in a wheelchair. Her twin sister, Margaret, is always around to help out with son, Nick. This story is a "dark comedy" or a dramatic story that happens to have a comedy of errors or events that alter how things turn out. It's predictable, never funny, and everyone involved is a fucking moron.
This is easily Damon's worst acting performance, although everyone else is ok. The film is pretty, but Clooney makes some odd choices, which explains Damon's performance, and some clear political ones (the confederate flag...how subtle...).
It's not complete crap, as there is something there you want to like, but it's mostly crap.
