I will forever wonder why our culture embraced Woody Allen, while Albert Brooks goes mostly under the radar. If you've never seen Defending Your Life, it's a must see film.
Here in Mother, Brooks plays a writer going through a divorce who decides to move back in with his mother, Debbie Reynolds, to figure out some things about himself.
This is strictly a character driven comedy. Brooks is a genius and ultimately relatable. Debbie Reynolds is also brilliant as a typical elderly mother whose embarrassed about everything and whose life is about as conservative and tame as possible.
Very good movie.
