Dave Chappelle - Equanimity & The Bird Revelation

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Yay Netflix!

Dave Chappelle's latest.

Equanimity is funny. Chappelle has no fear of any topic, even when his ignorance is on full display. His best statement is pointing out the hypocrisy in the Weinstein scandal. however, that insight is offset by some uncomfortable moments due to his ignorance. Some moments are really awkward. Chappelle thinks he's hilarious and laughs harder than the audience sometimes. That's not a joke. He nearly falls over himself slapping his own leg, while the audience will sit there not laughing.

The Bird Revelation isn't funny and isn't really an actual special. I feel like it was 10 minutes of his standup act at some undisclosed location. It just picks up in the middle of the show and ends almost immediately.

Chappelle is a comedic genius, but this special shows he's starting to lose touch. There are laughs, but his last Netflix special was better.

The wokescolds didn't like it, but it's got a 99% fresh with audiences on RT.

I watched it just because it was upsetting the correct people.

It was meh.

I'm glad you felt so, too. I watched it before seeing all the commentary, and thought it was pretty meh. Then I made the mistake of twitter searching it cuz I had heard it was controversial.

The ultra-left hates it, the ultra-right loves it. But I just didn't think it was good. There were definitely some good jokes, but I felt like overall it was lazy and, well, not funny.

These two opinions mean more to me than anything I've read on the quality of it.

I think I chuckled twice... not like the Dave of old.

I felt like he's turning into George Carlin, with a shtick of simply saying things one is not allowed to say. In this case, he straight-up referred to himself as a victim blamer, and pointed out a lot of the silly shit out there being coddled.

I think I laughed more than that... but the intro was super cringy with the Michael Jackson bit.

I laughed more than Gordon, but yeah, there were cringy moments and lots of unfunny stuff.

That being said, he also made some really solid points on certain issues he brought up. Points that we should be able to talk about in a free society, yet we cannot. People being mad at Dave for bringing things up proves that he is 100% correct in said points.

I would call Sticks & Stones a success simply because of that fact.

This was much better than sticks and stones. It was actually funny. The fact that it’s two nights of shows together was jarring in some places. Especially when he makes a joke about the white couple in the front row. Then later looks at the same seats and calls the people fellow niggers. Then the camera shows you it’s the other night, and it is black people.

This one was terrible. A few good moments, but lots of Dave thinking he’s fucking hilarious. And no one else does. It might be 10 minutes of stand up, but it runs 50 minutes

I'll buy you a ticket if you go and heckle him.

It's not for jokes, it's about George Floyd, etc.
