Star Wars VIII: Last Jedi **SPOILERS**

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Star Wars VIII: Last Jedi **SPOILERS**

Apparently his complete mind reading wasn't even canon for the length of this film since Darth Emo did a surprise kill on him.

Also, not force related, why not just hyperdrive through the middle of both death stars since that seems to be a thing now.

Star Wars VIII: Last Jedi **SPOILERS**

Here is what's officially canon.

And I will go on record as saying the Clone Wars shouldn't really count. I would be more than willing to bet that the majority of SW fans don't watch the cartoon.

They CAN count, but shouldn't be counted on for important plot points.
GORDON wrote: The legend of Darth... whatever.... that was in the story told to Annikin by the emperor... he had the power to bring back the dead. That is officially a power that we never saw anyone else do.
Hearsay.
GORDON wrote:And Qui Gon figured out how to Force Ghost, and passed it along, which explains why all former Jedi aren't force ghosts.
Speculative your honor. You're doing what Stan Lee used to give a "No Prize" for, which is filling in the gaps in poorly written stories.
GORDON wrote: So... there is precedent for Snoke being a unique mindfucker. And it could explain whatever rise to power that he had.
Even if this were true, it still doesn't explain Snoke's rise to power due to the rules of the Sith. Snoke is, by far, the weakest part of a movie with lots of weak points. He needed more of a back story. Who the fuck is he? How did he take control of the Empire? Why didn't the Emperor kill him per their religion? In the Empire Constitution does it say a Sith must be in charge? What's with the scars?

But like I said, JJ can fix all of this and make 8 fit better and not be such a story telling disaster. Thus, I'm not totally condemning this film until I see 9.
Vince wrote: Apparently his complete mind reading wasn't even canon for the length of this film since Darth Emo did a surprise kill on him.
A point I've made multiple times. All Jedi can read emotional conflict, but he apparently can't.
Vince wrote: Also, not force related, why not just hyperdrive through the middle of both death stars since that seems to be a thing now.
Maybe Laura Dern is the only one suicidal enough to do such a thing? It's a very good point though.

I have seen in various places people answering complaints about this (and the previous) movie with "well, if you'd have just read xyz novel, that would have made sense to you!"

And my reaction to that is you're relying on someone reading a book for your movie to make sense, your movie failed.

Hyperdrives take time to.spool up, and one assumes that when you're in hyperspace you weren't in real space, so you only have X meters while.working up to.light speed to actually hit anything, and while spooling up you're vulnerable. Maybe Doctor Sattler just hit perfect conditions and got lucky against a cocky enemy.

I took Snokes death as... Again, he was overconfident and cocky. He thought he was reading Emo's intentions for Rey, but it mirrored.his actions against Snoke. I thought it was sort of.clever. "He knows who his true enemy is... He turns the light saber... He activates it..." For me, it worked.

I.didnt care for the casino part. That was all dumb

I think the worst scene in the movie was when they were Facetiming with the bar owner from the first film and she was in a "union disagreement" (fire fight). That was terrible.

Second viewing: I think this movie's worst sin is that it was boring in so many parts. The first time I was rapt, waiting to see what happened next. This time... I almost fell asleep a couple times.

And I don't think Star Wars fans want to see the hero plucky cowboy pilot being wrong over and over, getting people killed. "Ha ha toxic masculinity is our real enemy."

And I don't think it was a good leadership practice for Laura Dern to keep everyone in the dark over her plan, so they all think they're getting killed over nothing. If she drops dead of an aneurysm, no one knows what she was doing to take over.

Casino part is still really stupid.

Still liked the final part with Emo and Rey and Snoke. Snoke bragging about how no one can betray him because he can see into every mind, and Emo disguises his real intent for Snoke by mirroring his actions on Rey.

Some nobody is finally opening up about hating the movie.

I wonder how many critics wish they could take back their glowing reviews? I'd be willing to bet at least half of them were positive only because they felt like "they had to write a positive review because everyone else will".

I've seen it argued that this movie is perfect because the Star Wars the old people like is dead and gone and this is the new star wars for the new generation, which knows how everything actually sucks.

So, millennials killed star wars.

I just love how short sighted everyone involved in The Last Jedi apparently is...
"Let's say that everything that came before is absolutely meaningless and further disrespect their memory by implying they were all failures."
"Won't that piss off all fans who grew up loving the original trilogy and the prequels? These are the people paying to see our movies and taking their families to our parks."
"Nah, they're fucking love it. Trust me, I'm in Hollywood."

Petition to remove The Last Jedi from Canon.

I signed it and shared the link on the book of faces.

I've seen that argument, and it completely avoids the points being made.

Star Wars VIII: Last Jedi **SPOILERS**

Family Christmas gathering and my nephew (college sophomore) isn't even a huge Star Wars fan and he hated it and was railing against it. Said at this point he doesn't have any desire to see the last installment until maybe it's released on DVD. I'd probably categorize him as a passive fan of the series up until now. Plays some of the games. Watches the movies. Knows the story. Not geeked on it though.

To Catt's meme, I don't think people are upset that their fan theories were shot down. I felt from the beginning that the massive amount of time and YouTube videos spent on these theories was more of an indication of a problem with the trilogy plot trajectory than a problem with the fans. I believe all the fans wanted desperately to believe after The Force Awakens that the people at LucasFilms and Disney had a plan to keep things awesome (they didn't). No Disney, the fans aren't mad because their theories were wrong. The fans are mad because their theories being wrong means their hope for any sort of meaningful and logical story line coming out of this trilogy is pretty much shot. To make matters worse, the choices they made in these last couple of movies are being seen by many as damaging to the previous two trilogies.
