Dune (2021)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I'll re-title this thread when we get an official title.

Won't be inspired by the 1984 version.

So far I'm ok with it.

I think the sandworm design was better in the original.

The trailer is better than the sum of the last movie.

FYI, saw some reports that woke folks are pissed off about the new Dune trailer. Why? Because there's not enough Arab representation in a movie that's clearly set in the desert.

That's not a punchline, that's legit the complaint.

People are fucking DUMB.

The Muslim/arab stuff.was thick in the book, so not just because of the desert.

Not necessarily in a bad way.... In the first book.

The people making the complaints think this is set on Earth...

It's been bumped over a year, BTW. TENET not doing well during covid scared them all off.

Just as well, though... it needs to do well so they make the second movie. This movie is only the first half of the book.

Opened yesterday in theaters and HBO Max.

Wish I watched it on the big screen. Nearly every frame could be framed art on the wall.

The scene with the throat singer and blood ritual was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen.
