As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

No, I had previously let it slip to him that's what she likes.

I've 99% decided to have a feminine nom de plume. Men are getting too hammered in the media lately, no one is going to want to read this kind of story as written by a dude.

That being said, look for a Facebook Group called "Rose Tyler, Author," and join it. I'm just setting it up, and I'll be posting twittet info and stuff, there.

Good idea, but you need a better name. That name is "taken"
It's not me, it's someone else.

I don't understand your inference.

Rose Tyler was the name of one of the Doctor's companions, but I didn't find any google searches for an author of that name.

That is exactly what I mean. Make up your own name.

Pick a new name. I'm boycotting. I think it could cause you problems down the road. But I could be wrong.

Seconded.

I remember my cousin wanted to write his horror shorts under the name Nicholas Lovecraft. I had to explain to him that would not be wise.

Just trying to help.

Using someone else's creation as your pen name leads to more negative outcomes than good ones.

Whereas I don't think anyone is going to mistake the character on a BBC tv show for a book author, I guess I will change this one and also my other pen name under which I write cook books, Indiana Jones.

Leaning toward Rose Tylar.

Speaking of which, I've been trying to contact the copyright owners of a music group to get permission to use two lines of a song, and they won't get back to me. So, fuck. Pulling it.

Yeah, I was just about to come here and point out that you spelled that name two different ways on the FB page.

ASCAP may be the right way to do it. That being said, I've heard it's a giant pain in the ass, unless you're Stephen King.

Yeah, went through three different channels, including them. Silence.

I think they figure they will get more in damages if you use something without permission, than they'll get if you buy permission.

Treble damages for willful copyright infringement. But, I assume they get contacted by tons of authors who have uncertain prospects (new, un-established authors). You can either say it's $5,000 + $0.50/book, or else it's just not worth their time, right? I mean, why license something for $0.25/book, if you have no idea how much they'll sell?
