As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Not at all, unless it's overwhelmingly positive.

I'm going to get enough shit from strangers. I don't need it here.

Also I guess here this is:

http://www.steviescott.com

Dropped the kid off at school, swam a mile, then whipped that site up from scratch, done before noon.

Not 100% happy with about 33% of it, but I'll tweak it over time. I'm not actively marketing it, so right now it's just a few word of mouth peeps that'll see it.

Buying it today as well. Let me know about the feedback you want.

I don't want to have to Purge you.

I don't want to hear about my literary choices, or the words I chose to use. I already know about, "Show, don't tell," but with this subject matter I had to really choose my words carefully. Couldn't always show.

It's done, it's out there, I just want to hear each one of your different versions of, "Damn, that's really, surprisingly good." I've never asked anyone here for hard critiques.

Except it's pretty close to chick lit, so I don't know how much anyone here will really connect.

Or say nothing, if you're mortified. I think some people might be. I dunno.

All I ask is for a 5-star amazon review, either way. Share the pain with others.

I hope you start the book before the story starts so I can shove you down some lighthouse stairs.

I don't care if I like the book or not. You did it and should be proud.

5 star review guaranteed.

This is how it's done, people. :)

And I had that episode in mind when I was turning the first book inside out, which is explained in the book's Foreword. (which goddammit i just noticed for the first time it is forward, in the book. goddammit. i'll update that tonight and it should carry down to existing copies) I had to tell the story out of order... for a reason.

Also, when you give me an amazon review, don't mention the author's gender. I'm keeping it ambiguous on purpose. The subject matter of the book is delicate, and some sick peeps will be triggered that a dude wrote it.

I would use a less-gendered last name, then, as well. I know it's a last name, but people may see it as Scott = male, ergo SS = male.

I think you need to run your compliments past Leisher, first, before you post them.

On the KDP control panel I can track both sales, and peeps reading it for free with "Kindle Direct" or whatever that's called. It's like Kindle netflix, all they can read for $X. So I can see how many pages these peeps are reading.... 153 pages so far, today, out of the 300 page book. About 1k pages total, in the last week, Ha. I wonder who these randos are. I haven't advertised.

I'm glad to NOT see someone reading 20 pages and quitting. I like to think it hooks you.

I get paid for those according to how many pages I get read. I don't know how that breaks down, yet... I imagine it will be comparable.

As far as I know.... I just get # of pages, not # of people. So I guess 7 people may have each read 20 pages and dropped it in disgust.

You get paid by number of pages read, from the collective pool. It says that for this month, there's $22m getting divided up to all authors. So if this month is a fluke, and no one reads any kindle books except mine, then I'm making $22m this month. Score.

August 2018: $0.0045
So if you had 1k pages from KU readers, that's 4.5$

And that's right in line with an actual sale. I figured they knew how to price KU so it balanced out. Low # readers will subsidize the high # readers.

I mean, ballpark. I figured it would be slightly low, compared to a sale.
