As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I didn't mean to imply it wasn't a sizable chunk. I was trying to get some numbers, but haven't had a lot of luck finding an estimate of how many fans are really upset or at least unhappy. In light of that, I can only estimate it based on the Rotten Tomato audience score. It was at 49% when I looked at it. So roughly half were not happy. That's why I believe there's no saving it. If roughly half were happy (or at least okay) with it and you tell them you wasted their time and money with the last movie, they aren't going to be too happy going forward if they dream hole the last movie. You lose 40-60% of your audience and your hosed.

But I don't think it'll matter. I don't think they'll be introspective enough to solve the problem.

Edit: They should destroy it properly by letting Tim Burton direct the last one.

I laughed, and then I remember their new notice that they'll only be hiring known directors from now on and realized this might happen.

It's going to do well and that's going to open doors for him. I just hope they give him a SW film over a Marvel film.

Been doing a deep dive into the SW issues of late. So they've put on hold the A Star Wars Story films, but Rian Johnson's trilogy is still a go. It's just a lower priority now than Ep9. JJ Abrams was Exec Producer for Ep8. So while he wasn't on the set for filming, he approved the script. He's stated he will not be addressing any issues raised by fans in Ep9. Now a lot of that may be PR spin, but I think even saying that is the wrong approach. Disney/Lucas keeps saying they are going to address marketing and production to fix the issues they've had with Ep8 and Solo.

Why should he engage the issues of a bunch of sexists? That fits his.official position.

He has indeed said that publicly, but that was way back when TLJ first came out. Since then he's been silent. So there is some hope that even if he won't do anything to fix things, Iger is forcing fixes.

I don't know where to find this, but JJ was NOT thrilled with the changes Rian Johnson made and indicated as such after TLJ. His statement was that he actually challenged Rian's dropping of all the plot threads he left dangling. He wasn't pleased that all the stuff he did on Ep7 was essentially thrown out.

I'm sure he wasn't. Not sure why he agreed to try to salvage the turd that this trilogy has become. I probably would have been telling them I was out after I saw those changes. I'm thinking he's a none confrontation kind of guy. I also think that Kennedy chick was driving a lot of this and backing Johnson's crap. Even Mark Hamill appeared to have been pushing back. I have great differences with the actor, but I actually felt sorry for him in one of those fan talks where he was sitting next to Johnson talking about it. Pretty clear it's really bothered him.

If you boycott SW you're actually hurting the franchise and you're "not an actual fan".

I responded with a wall of text blasting the author and their logic.
