Inside Amy Schumer
Inside Amy Schumer
Based on all of you discussing its merits, I signed up for Amazon Prime.
I launched it and noticed "Inside Amy Shumer", which I had been meaning to check out on Comedy Central.
Hilarious show.
It's a combination of skits, her stand up, street interviews, and interviews with people you wouldn't normally interview (stripper, guy with a big dick, plastic surgeon, dominatrix, etc.).
Her humor is very vulgar and adult. She's being called "the edgiest female comic" currently. But I do want to stress that it's not vulgar just for vulgar's sake, ala Melissa McCarthy (also funny, but she has a one trick pony vibe).
The best way to describe the show to guys is to say it's like if guys made a totally un-PC show about life, but from a woman's point of view.
Catt, you mentioned elsewhere that you and the wife are looking for new shows, and based on her answer to the eye sight vs sex debate, I have a feeling this would be in her wheel house.
I would honestly go so far as to say this is to women as the Chappelle show was to black people. It has no problem making fun of women, how they're portrayed, or how the opposite sex relates to them.

“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”

She has quite a way to go before I'll make that claim. Still probably going to be DVRing this.

Regarding her stand up, that's a very fair assessment. I think her humor translates much better in the skits and interviews.

She was probably my favorite that season she was on Last Comic Standing. (She used to date Anthony Jeselnik... is his show on anymore?)
I record all of Inside Amy Schumer.
This was one of my favorite bits:

I thought EP5 from season 1 was the weakest so far, but it also had one strong skit.

That is a shame because it was hilarious. I enjoy his comedy.Malcolm wrote:Cancelled last November after two seasons.(She used to date Anthony Jeselnik... is his show on anymore?)
Although, getting a show cancelled by Comedy Central is like a rite of passage for comedians.

Tell you what... 2 or 3 times Any has had her friend (or whatever) on who is probably 50, overweight, and some kind of singer/comedy person. I sat through her song in season 1... pulling up her dress and flashing her old fat panties around the room and pushing young guys into her fat old boobs, because I kept waiting for it to become funny and not gross. It never became not gross, nor funny.
My DVR recorded a new episode the other night and I started watching it, and at the end the old gross fat woman is there with a mic... and she said "This song is for all the ladies out there with a *beep*, not a vagina... but a *beep*..." (her lips were saying 'pussy') and she pulls up her dress to show off her gross fat black panties....
*stop button* End of episode, for me.
Don't watch that woman. Among the worst shit I have ever seen.

That was Bridgette Nelson, I think her name is. She opened for Amy last time she was in town, then came back and headlined her own show later.

Brigitte Nielsen. The one I misremembered was Bridget Everett. Her reviews range from G's reaction to people thinking she outdoes Amy when she opens.

The show has always been comedy from a female perspective, but so far this season she has gone FAR into feminist territory. I think the best example would be the 15 minute 12 Angry Men parody in which they argued, literally, whether or not Amy was fuckable enough to be on TV.

That bit was goddamn hilarious.

Yeah, but the evidence is adding up.
The skit with the famous women picnicking, celebrating Julia Loius Dreyfus's "Last Fuckable Day." The "Milk Milk Lemonade" video lampooning the fact that men are attracted to women's' asses. The "I love you the way you are without makeup.... no, wait... put the makeup back on" video.
Like with that disastrous 3rd season of Chapelle Show, she is transitioning from "sending up" the stereotypes, to flirting on the edge of being angry about them. She's close to not being funny any more, but shrill.
And nobody likes a shrill bitch, amirite guys?

Wtf? The only part of the Julia-Louis Dreyfus thing I didn't like was motherfucking goddamn Tina Fey. Other than that, the show seems to be getting better.

It is funny if she is taking the criticism of idiots and making fun of them, but it isn't funny if she is taking the comments to heart and getting angry about them and lashing out. I think she is possibly walking that line.
I am spending just as much time this season wondering about her motivations for the shit she is doing, as I am watching, than I am laughing at it. That hasn't happened past seasons.
