Ian McKellen is more than happy to return as Gandalf... but director Guillermo Del Toro hasn't asked him yet...

Guillermo seems like type of dude that'd bow to the fanbase on this one. After seeing Ian's excellent portrayal in the trilogy, it'd be kinda weird seeing anyone besides him pull off Mithrandir.

But I have high hopes for the next Hellboy because of him.
We saw the previews prior to Cloverfield and the wife was NOT impressed. She thought the film looked ridiculously insulting to the intelligence. She kept mocking Hellboy's final line in the trailer. She kept saying that crap is the best they can come up with?
I have to agree it seemed much cheesier than the original film.
“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”
Of The Bull wants to use less CGI than did Peter Jackson. Good.

20 questions with Jackson and Of the Bull.

Lots more than 20, though, with follow-ups.

4K questions lodged prior to the chat & another one question lodged literally every second of the chat's duration. Fuckin' hell. Reminds me of the old UO HoC chats.

Del Toro has a few words.

Sounds so far, so good. He didn't say anything like, "We're really putting in so much humor... it's great" like Dan'l Radcliff said about the next Harry Potter some time back. More like, "I'm trying to get my head in the same place that Tolkein's was at when he wrote it so I can get the same vibe." That's a good thing to hear.

Son of a fuck. That is a mother bitch.
Maybe with Jackon's recent bombs, he'll go back to The Hobbit to get "back on top."
Just as long as he gets rid of the woman who added so much silliness into Return of the King. I'm looking at you, scene where Legolas slides down the oliphant trunk Fred Flintstone-style.
I read that one of his female co-writers was personally responsible for a lot of the stuff the fans hated in the films. Can't remember which.
That being said, I don't know if attaching Jackson to the flick is entirely good.
