TV - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

She hasn't started dating him yet, but don't worry, you didn't spoil anything as they've made that storyline pretty predictable.

I don't even see it as a spoiler.... the relationship is just so damned boring.

Well, let's be fair, unless she starts banging Spike, Giles, or Willow (please!), nothing was going to measure up to Angel.

Yeah it was.

Two emmy nominations for that one. They should have won, too, but didn't.

Finished Season 4.

I agree with those who stated it was the worst season. Of the 4 I've watched, it is easily the weakest.

I think the writers got a bit scattered with the characters (although Anya quickly became a favorite) and didn't write them consistently.

Adam had a lot of potential to be a good villain, but ended up being a massive dud. The climatic episode involving his storyline was a huge disappointment. Having an additional episode in the season to explain why "they can't do that every time they fight a major enemy" after what should have been the finale was is a great example of how poorly this season was written...Hush being the exception.

Here's hoping season 5 gets the characters back on track.

Now you start building up to what culminates in the season 6 episode "Once More with Feeling."

You should have goosebumps.

I just ordered Buffy seasons 5, 6 & 7 and Angel seasons 2, 3, 4 & 5 off of Amazon and with free shipping and gift cards from online surveys it cost me $17.

I just looked and Netflix has all of that for download. If you weren't getting it so cheaply I'd say cancel the order and just get Netflix.

Also Dollhouse S1&2, so now I'll finally check that out.

Honestly, I like having the DVDs of the shows I want to support.

Firefly got a movie because of DVD sales. Family Guy was renewed twice because of DVD sales. (Funny how FOX seems to be the network that doesn't know how to program.)

I'm not paying top dollar for anything, but I prefer having the DVDs even though I know that eventually streaming and downloads will probably be the only method available. At least until something new comes along.

I like to give money to support the people that make stuff I like, but DVDs are so last century. I wish there were better ways to do it and still have it count for something.

I like physical property.

The trend is to move away from that, and I think it sucks.

Some consumers think it's a big win for them because they don't have to worry about losing their DVD, tape, cassette, etc. or it being damaged, but I think the cons outweigh such concerns.

The biggest con being that I no longer feel like I have control of my collection. And that's what it is, a collection. Some collection stamps, I'm into Hollywood, so I collect movies. I play video games too, but I don't save their boxes or display my games on a shelf.

And, of course, if everything is digital ownership probably becomes a thing of the past. This bothers me as someone who has watched TV shows and movies over and over and over again. It would suck to be asked to pay full price or full rental price each time. I don't want to pay $1.99 at night when I head to bed and want to throw something in to watch as I fall asleep.

Other cons:
-If your internet is out, you're fucked.
-Brick and mortars take one more step towards going away. Some people think this is cool, but big picture means the loss of jobs and no ability to demo the item, see it (pictures don't do shit and can be faked or taken in a way to trick you into thinking it's better than it is like the photos of the new Burger King Steakhouse burger with Jalapenos...), feel it, etc.
-You have less of a chance to see something random that you'd enjoy. Search functions and category views will eliminate walking by a title on a shelf that you might like.
-Who cares about the DVD being damaged if you have a digital copy? Just burn a new one.

I love digital distribution. I really do. In fact, I signed up with Netflix last night, and have been a major supporter of Steam. I just hope it continues to co-exist with physical media. I don't want either to be our only option.

I, too, am all about ownership and collecting it's just I don't like the physical forms. I like the bits. All the lovely bits filling up my big NAS.

I hate physical media. But I love collections on my 8x750GB RAID.

Just watched the original movie again on Netflix. I didn't remember it being that shitty. Perhaps I'm biased now that I've seen the TV show.

I'm currently in season 2 of Angel (with Darla) and season 5(?) of Buffy.

This season of Angel is decent. I like the karaoke guy and the addition of Gunn. The lawyers are great villains, but the dragging out of the Darla plot feels very unnatural. He should have staked her after banging her. I've got about 6 episodes left.

Three episodes left in Buffy, and Glory just found out about Dawn. "The Body" is, far and away, the best episode of the season. Love how much air time Spike is getting.

Watching both shows at the same time (disk by disk, not show by show) has worked out well.

The last ep of season 5 is my fave Giles moment of the entire series.
