I have been using the season 6 episode "Once More with Feeling" to test DVD ripping software, so over the last couple days I have watched that episode about 4 times in its entirety.
I think Joss Whedon created the entire show and preceding 5 seasons just so he could make that episode.
The look of horror on Willow's face when Buffy sings that one word, near the end...
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
I have heard nothing but praise for the Buffy comics/trade paperbacks (TPB).
So I finished Season 2 yesterday. Huge improvement over Season 1.
Thoughts:
-Loved the additions of Spike and Drusilla. Spike, in particular, has stolen the show. A great actor portraying a great character. I'm surprised that this guy seems to have his career stuck in TV shows.
-I find it amazing that the show can go from cheesy and hokey to serious and dark so quickly. The second part of the series finale is a great example in that you have a hilarious character driven scene between Spike and Buffy's mom only 5-10 minutes before the amazing season climax.
-One of the things I really like about Wheedon is that he has no problem killing off characters.
-Looking forward to seeing what Quark is all about. I assume I'll learn that in the next season.
-I really enjoyed the episode Bad Eggs with John Ritter.
-I think that during Buffy's on air run, I saw a single episode. That episode might have been the climax of what started going on with Willow in season 2...
Good stuff. Can't wait to grab season 3.
“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”
Ha ha! The reason I borrowed the DVD's was because my iTunes stumbled onto the album, and had been playing "I Have a Theory," "Rest in Peace," and "Walk Through the Fire" a lot.
They're still a part of my normal rotation.
Best Buffy episode ever!
I just read on Wikipedia that Once More With Feeling was originally going to be made for the same slot that Hush was in, but Xena did a musical episode so they waited a couple more years so that the musical idea would be fresh again.
