To be fair, Luckey quickly clarified that he was referring to Apple's lack of high-end GPU support, even in its high-end systems, that the Rift is dependent upon. “You can buy a $6000 Mac Pro with a top-of-the-line AMD FirePro D700, and it still doesn't match our recommended specs," he continued. "So if they prioritize higher-end GPUs, like they used to for awhile back in the day, we'd love to support Mac. But right now, there's just not a single machine out there that supports it. So even if we could support it on the software side, there's just no audience of people that can run the vast majority of software out there.”

That's hilarious, especially considering the video editing niche the Mac carved out 15-20 years ago.

So has anyone gone this route yet? I've done it with a Samsung phone and a Samsung headset, but no controllers. I've also done the cardboard app with a Star Wars headset (free from Verizon when Episode 7 hit).

I'm curious about using it through Steam and actual PC games. Does anyone know the level they're at? Are we talking glorified Pong or can I actually play a top tier FPS using them?

I've got the Google Dream VR thing. It's pretty simple. It's pretty interesting for a few minutes. The kids really liked it, content is lacking. The games are better than VR Pong, certainly. I would expect Steam VR games to be even better.

I'd do the VR porn as long as the wife would jump on and ride the log while looking at Mila Kunis in the eye thing.

That's the most disturbing thing I'll read on the internet today.

Another big sale.

This is on the heels of their big discount during the Steam sale.

Does it take a rocket scientist to figure out that their sales numbers aren't very good? Call me crazy, but you're charging $800 for something people can, literally, get for free. Ok, maybe they have to pay for the controllers, but there are knock offs I saw at Best Buy for $20 each or something.

You can't charge more than a fucking console for a headset and some controllers.

Rift gaining on Vive on Steam.

Note the late paragraph about HTC losing money like crazy and maybe dropping out of VR...

Is VR the next TV craze?

I've got $425 in Best Buy rewards... I just don't know if VR is worth it yet. I've played some of the games at Dell EMC World, but they still seem gimmicky.

LG files a patent on tech that eliminates the "screen door effect".

Apparently, they are also developing Steam branded VR. I'm glad I'm waiting before buying a VR solution.

Isn't BB closing down? Better use those rewards fast.

Holy shit, that affects me big time.

I go there all the time to grab stuff for work. I even have the record for largest purchase ($15,000).

This may actually work in my favor. Can't go there during lunch, so I'll have to hit the one on the way home. It's across town, so I won't come back that day. I'll just bring everything in tomorrow. Yes, this will get me a few hours here and there. Giggity.

So I have $1,100 to Best Buy.

I can either continue saving for a 5K TV (or whatever else I might need) or grab an Oculus Rift and start playing the Rick & Morty VR game.

Thing is, I'm not getting my basement until the kids move out. So any TV bought now is kind of a waste. It'd mostly be watched by my wife for housewives of ______ shows.

If you had your druthers, would you grab it for free or hold out for an awesome TV that will be outdated as soon as you get it?

I don't think I'd accept the "I can't have the basement." You're a grown ass man, providing for your family.... I think you deserve a basement.

I have my office. I'm fine with the kids having a space to play.

As for hardware, there's a new contender: Oculus Go...
