Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak - Also some Homeworld: Remastered discussi
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this. My primary game, particularly when you and/or Stranger are online, will still be MW:O, but this will be my "other game" once it hits. Currently, it's Far Cry 4.
“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”
Still, very, very fun. I love capturing enemy frigates. On mission 5 of the first one so far. I don't remember how the second one changes things, but hopefully it's all tolerable.
Just got my first Destroyer, too.
Did I play this game before or after I started playing EVE?
Also there is this mission - that it doesn't matter how careful you've been and how large an early fleet you've amassed... it just wears you down and throws rocks at you. Clears the playing field - really good design.

Just ordered the HD version.
This game wasn't really built for multi, IMO. Whoever owns the resources wins the game. Maybe they balanced things a little with the rerelease... or maybe we can make a rule about camping the resources, or something. I dont know. Whatever.

Here's my unboxing pics.
Art book and keychain.
Here's a pic next to my 23" screen, for scale.
Amusingly, there isn't even a disk. You just get an online activation code with your hard-copy collector's edition of the game.

Ha! I didn't even notice that, well done. I hope I don't accidentally knock that mothership off her perch next time I visit.

I have seen a ton of problems with this redone game and I am surprised I have not heard about it elsewhere.
The following notes are from the perspective of a guy who has played the original 5-7 times, have memorized each mission and how to beat it, and with great efficiency.
1. They broke the formations. Fighters break formation as soon as an enemy is engaged and scatter to the winds. The sphere formation allowed your ships to completely envelop your target and get a 360 degree sphere of sustained fire on it.... now your ships just get in a sphere and wait for something to get in range. They don't envelop. The ships farthest away in the sphere never get in range to fire.
2. They broke the Support Frigate functions. I used to be able to get 10 capital ships in a wall formation and assign 3 support frigates to heal them... and each other... as they take damage. It was a hands-off system to keep your fleet healthy. Now a support frigate will heal the first ship to take damage... then just sit there and do nothing until you give it a new order. Bullshit.
3. Drone Frigate drones self destruct after they build a full drone cloud. That makes no sense at all.
I am surprised I haven't more about these problems. They pretty much broke the elegance of the game.

4. At the beginning of each mission, every ship launches in Evade setting, which means they won't fire on bad guys who get in range. You have to manually set everything to Defensive/Aggressive, including the Mothership, in order to get them to not just sit there doing nothing and getting shot to death. Dumb.
