Bah, I'm at the climbing gym and the internet is too slow to try it out.

I've played it a bit. It works fine.

I mostly just left the game open afk, but they still gave me a free copy that will be mine in 3 weeks, but requires uPlay.

I always feel like the tech companies are way ahead of where the tech is, and this is a prime example.

I just don't see where the majority of the marketplace is on bandwidth plans that can handle this yet. Even if they're out there, people don't sign up for them.People don't understand bandwidth.

Plus, I'm with Gordon in that I want a copy of my game on my PC. Thus, if my internet connection is down, I can still play. (Single player games only, of course.)

Assuming they are priced right and offer the correct games, I'd be on board.

I picture it more like Netflix where I have access to a library of games and can launch and play what I want. As apposed to buying the game, owning it, but only playing it through their streaming service. 'Cause that would be dumb, even if I had unlimited bandwidth. I could play lots of turn based stuff this way, but not first person shooters.

I did not read the article.

I'm open to most anything... but it all depends on the details.

The article was light on details since the service has not yet announced.

From what I've read, the early thoughts are you would require an "always on" connection. However, the "Gordon Concern" (trademark pending) is being addressed, and the thinking is that perhaps a downloaded game is the way to go...for now.

Make no mistake, the ultimate goal is for you to rent games, not own them. Then they can always charge you AND fight piracy.
