Pretty sure I own that already through Steam, but I'll grab it here too.

I think the You Don't Know Jack games are grossly underrated. Tons of fun. The problem is getting a group to play a game around your PC.

Yeah, I remember playing them when they were new in the... late 90s?

Yeah, mid-late 90s.

I think I remember a PS1 version that wasn't quite as clever.

They were dumbing it down for the console audience. :D

With all the shady shit Epic Games have done, the rips on PC Gamers over the years (they consider us lesser than console players as consumers), and now the exclusivity strategy instead of giving us features and competition, I'm starting to think the free games are 30 pieces of silver...

Saw this on the Twitters regarding the Epic store.
• They have terrible security. ( 80 MILLION ACCOUNTS were exposed last week!)
• They have terrible customer service. (Just Google it)
• Games are more expensive on Epic due to regional pricing
. (Metro Exodus being an example since while is US price is lower, the EU price is still around the same as it was on Steam. Let that sink in. )
• You can't play games offline
.
• Limited social features
.
• No screenshots
.
• No controller support
.
• They broke EU laws! (And still do!)
• Scummy tactics. (You had to tick a box to opt out of emails, etc.)
• They are partially owned by Tencent. (A Chinese company that SELLS USER DATA TO THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT! Read that again. )
• No achievements
.
• No cloud saves
.
• No game forums. (Many people went to Steam for Subnautica support.)
• Epic makes you pay the transaction fee when purchasing games (Like this.)
• They are anti-consumer! (They pay for exclusive rights to games to try and force you to use their store.)
• They can refuse refunds even if you meet the criteria
. Read that again.
• No reviews
, so you can't tell if a game is bad or not unless you Google it.
• No Linux support.
That Tencent thing is pretty big. There are people saying nobody should ever give their CC info to the Epic launcher. I guess Tencent owns 40-48% of the Epic Games store.

The best breakdown of the Metro-Steam-Epic situation I've seen. (Mostly it's about Steam-Epic.)

Eh, it's a new store, right? (As least from a not-their-own-games perspective), it'll grow, probably.

We'll see. Fortnite is getting some competition with this new Anthem release that people are gung ho about and reviews are good. That might distract Epic, and that Tencent company isn't going to do shit.

When your goal is to make money, and you try to draw in customers by paying big contracts, there's not as much leftover for R&D.

Claiming 85 million users and 40% don't have Steam.

Here's the trick of that, most of their users are console players who don't game on PC. Also the largest chunk of them are Fortnite players. Notice they don't call their users "active" like Valve does.

Epic plans to completely curate their store and won't post anything they deem to be porn or "hate".

I like curating the store to prevent dogshit. I don't like them acting like Big Brother and censoring games.

I was thinking about this last night.

Epic claims they don't want to do exclusive deals forever, and the big excuse is they're doing this to get on the map. Now that they're reporting almost the same number of users as Steam, shouldn't they be done with exclusives and let free market competition take care of things at this point?

Shouldn't they give me a fucking discount for their fucking exclusive?

Like they did for Metro Exodus?

I think they probably realize the lemmings will buy it no matter what, while those fighting against this bullshit won't, so why give the discount?

Right. That's part of the problem. I WOULD be OK with exclusivity if it got ME something, but it doesn't, so FUCK THEM.

At the GDC Epic claimed they would back off of exclusives.

Guess who just announced they're going to continue doing exclusives...

Also, they note they're losing money because of the exclusivity payouts.

Well, fuck em. I'd rather buy a brand new 4k XBox just to play BL3, than support Epic.

I'm toying with an idea for a Tweet. Here's what I have so far. Comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
Dear @TimSweeneyEpic,

@georgeb3dr tweeted you "have the most integrity" and at the GDC your company suggested it would back down from doing exclusives. According to @pcgamer, your EGS now has just 5 million fewer users than @steam_games. (cont)
Wouldn't now be a perfect time for "a man of integrity" to end using exclusivity as a way to force people onto their platform? Instead, @engadgetgaming is reporting that you're going to continue this anti-consumer practice. Why do you hate free market competition? (cont)
If you refuse to stop trying to force EGS onto gamers' PCs via exclusivity deals, then how about some integrity and be honest with gamers? Admit that you fear a fair competition against Steam, and thus, you're cheating the system. (cont)
Stop pretending it's something more noble because it's not. It's about money plain and simple. Granted you're a business and the end goal is to make money, but you're doing so by providing less to your customers than competitors would, and punishing those who don't shop (cont)
at your store. That's unethical and certainly lacks integrity.

I'm not really sure what your end game is here. Gamers are notoriously good at holding grudges and despite what your VP Mark Rein believes, they're more savvy than you may think. (cont)
Now I realize contracts are signed and deals are done, but you can stop signing new exclusive deals. That'd be a huge step in repairing Epic's relationship with PC gamers.

And while I hopefully (but doubtful) have your attention,(cont)
let me shout out @2K. While I realize this deal fills your pockets, I guess you forgot about the days when EA signed an exclusive deal for Madden with the NFL squashing your far superior football series. Back then you were outraged and preached about (cont)
how this was an unfair move by EA and it hurt the consumers. I guess your memory of that event was erased by a big check from Epic?

Good, but I'm guessing you get as much of a response as you did from Microsoft
