I suspect my phone is not very good at getting the specific location right. Whatever the reason, I like it.

My kid's phone was the same way. We'd stand still and watch the avatar go back and forth across the street over and over.

I'm up to 3.8k having never walked anywhere with it at all.

This is common on the iPhone too. The trick is once your guy is standing still, just minimize the app for a second and when you open it back up your characters moves all around for a few seconds.

I find it hard to believe they didn't just have some algorithm to spread them around the country.

They are based on actual locations with photos and all.

They can have their "actual locations," but no reason they can't also spread them randomly so entire flat states don't get missed like Nebraska and North Dakota. If that was the implication, above.

I think you're missing the key point of "no one goddamn lives there."

Apparently every church is a pokestop, so as long as you're somewhere in the U.S. you can't be too far from one.

I was exaggerating, but relative to Chicago, it's few and far between. From where I am now (Fargo), scrolling around the entire map I can see 4 Pokestops and 1 Pokegym. All are churches or parks.

But yeah, it's based on landmarks. No landmarks (churches, parks, sculptures, etc), no Pokethings.

I haven't seen more than a single pokestop or gym on the map at the same time yet and I'm in the middle of a major metropolitan area. Four pokestops and a gym all at once would be a big step up.

I got a medal for walking 10km, and I've not walked more than about 100 ft with the ap on.

I have 2 decent vapereons or whatever now and took over my gym today. I feel like the rewards should be higher.

But, I have 20 coins now, so I've got that going for me

I tried two forms of cheating last night: Bluestacks (Android emulator for PC), and something-nox, also an Android emulator. I used a different account, of course.

Bluestacks: Can set location, and then you are there. In theory you can move around, but I couldn't get that to work. Highly unstable, kept crashing.

Nox: VERY stable, never crashed. can move around the map. However, whatever it's using is detected by the servers, and got me soft-banned (Couldn't get items from Pokestops, and all Pokemon ran away).

Latest update killed the poke trackers. I've gotten the yellow flash dodge mechanic to work most of the time, and have thus gotten much better at combat.

Level 19, close to 20.

Pokemon at level 20

Image

The other day hit a place with a ton of people/Pokemon (but not a lot of stops), ran out of balls. Then went to a park that was full of Pokestops, and filled up in about 30 minutes of walking, while also catching some. The place was crazy, about 3 gyms, 12 stops, and 40-50 people playing the game.

Yes, the Pokemon are harder to catch
Found a 1000+ CP monster today, dropped berries, used UltraBalls only, 6 balls, 4 hits, it ran away. Fuckers.
