Most turns I have nothing to do, since my people are building, and Ive been low on warfare.

Won more handily on level 4. Culture victory. Despite the fact that I had so many great artists and musicians that i couldnt find homes for them.

Civ VI logic issue: Culture A asked me to join them in declaring war on Culture B, so I obliged. Culture A then disliked me for "war-mongering" Um... wtf?

Sounds like modern political maneuvering to me.

Yeah, the AI is doing its job. Catt fell for it.

The irony being that A and B were on different continents. B and I were on the same one. 10 turns after the war started, A and B made peace, and were trading with each other, leaving me at war with my neighbor.

Honestly, not a bad plan by A since it slowed my growth and science for a while.

i couldn't resist and preordered the monthly Humble Bundle with this game last night. $12 for this plus the 2 DLC's and 6-8 other unknown games was just too good of a deal to pass on.

I'd still like to try multiplayer on this game some time. I talked to Cake last night and he said it was "Booooooooorrrrrrriiiiiiiiiinnnnnnggggg, wait for 20 minutes to take a turn and then 5 hours later try and get the people back together next weekend to do the same thing" While i understand that sentiment i actually think it could be pretty enjoyable. Plus i think you can put timers on a turn, which would be good in the early game but late game i can see needing extra time for turns.

More games really need a "play by email" option. That way everyone can take their turn at their convenience. Might be instantaneous if everyone is at their PC, or someone might take a turn overnight because he has insomnia.

It's funny you bring this up because i looked into that for CIV 5 and brought that up earlier in this thread. I did a little more investigating today and found a sight that you can play Civ 6 that way. It looks like you can download their client or do it from the websight. Check it out.

Once I get my copy I would be willing to give this a try.

playing last night and i'm only about 50 turns into the game. Its the early stages of the game where your just exploring the map and trying to take care of any barbarian tribes that are around. I meet the Sumarians and the Chinese, i don't want to start any problems this early so i say all the right things and am cordial to them as they are my closest neighbors.

At about turn 30 the Sumarian leader says that the size of my army is quite pathetic and wonders if i'm afraid of being invaded. About 5 turns later he's pissed that my military might isn't up to his standards and denounces me!

Some 10 or so turns later the Chinese leader approaches me and says that anyone who explores the lands more than they do is a problem to the Chinese. A few turns later the Chinese denounce me too.

Damn, these AI are ruthless! Looks like i'm going to have to turn my focus towards being a military society. They haven't declared war on me yet but i'm sure its going down that road.

I played quite a bit of Civ 5 and i don't remember the AI being so petty over something like not having a strong army. I usually was able to make good with my immediate neighbors until i was ready to slaughter them. I actually like it though and i enjoy more of a militaristic playstyle to Civ, or else it just gets boring to me. So the fact that the AI is taking the initiative is pretty cool.

Also, i'm only playing on the normal difficulty, like the 4th of 8 different levels. I can't even imagine what immortal or deity difficulty would be like.

Pro tip: when conquering someone if you kill every single man, woman, and child there won't be anyone left to someday rise up and fight back.

i cannot for the life of me understand the AI in this game.

Spain: I like the size of your empire.
1 turn later: DENOUNCE
A few turns later: Nice empire.
Another few turns later: Surprise war!

In that time i didn't plant any cities next to his boarders or even move any military next to him. We had good diplomatic relations, open boarders, embassies and all that nothing could be any better, just friendly neighbors. I wipe out his one pathetic conquistador he sends at me and begs for peace the next turn...

A little while later the filthy Americans do something similar and i haven't even seen any of their cities! i've only come across one of their scouts somewhere.

When i start a war unprovoked like that every single Civ in the game immediately turns on me and my warmonger penalty is enormous.

I understood the aggressiveness to be a point of counteracting the people who would just grow + turtle, having large, poorly balanced empires, like you could do in the original Vic + Civ 2
