I had a game concept like that once.

Sounds interesting.

My buddy & I were sitting around, maybe 10+ years ago, thinking, "What if you made the ultimate RTS?" Like MOO2 + a Civ2 per planet on steroids.

Player fakes suicide to rile folks up and it worked.

Eve, while boring as shit, continues to have the best real world stories.

Yup, that's Eve alright. It's in some way's a player-driven ARG. Gotta admire that part of it.

5700 players unite to eliminate "death star".

Eve Online has the best stories. It's too bad that they're better told than seen or played.

This game, while boring as hell to play, continues to churn out great stories.

Elite hunting group's biggest mistake.

Scumbag pretends to be a friend for 16 months to steal irreplaceable ship.

Yeah, I read that on PC Gamer. The stories about the game are about a million times more fun than playing it.

The most boring game does not disappoint in having the most interesting stories.

Man funds his EVE habit with his porn career.

Wormhole gameplay always sounded so fun. But it being EVE, it is probably also really tedious and would involve sitting in an empty node by yourself all day looking for exits.

EVE Online is the most fascinating game for real life news, bar none. Amazing because it's soooo fucking boring to play.

Another awesome event.

Best devs. Best stories. Most boring game in history.

Reading this made me go down a rabbit hole. Found a gem. For a really long time, China based EVE players were required to play on their own separate server due to regulations of some kind. But apparently those regulations dropped at some point, and in the spirit of wanting MORE SPACE FIGHTS a lot of the Chinese server player-base decided to band together and join the International server. This happened in April of this year.

Edited: i checked. The Chinese Alliance mentioned in the article, "Fraternity" has grown 20-30 systems since April. They are eeking it out in really shitty space, but that's where you have to start sometimes.

None of this research made me want to go back to playing, at all.
