However all fast food hash browns are better than any fast food french fries.
Disagree on both.

- Disagree with Troy's "Tex Mex Prophecy," even though I like tex mex. Their spread may have something to do with the amount of people who have been freely crossing the border, not because it is particularly good.

- Desserts should not be on that list. That's candy.

- Fries are iffy, as valid items for this list. They are side dishes, unless it is something like a barbecue place selling "Loaded Memphis Fries topped with a pound of pulled pork," or something like that.

- I don't think McD's fries are the best, ever. They were the best back when they were cooking them in beef tallow, but then a vegetarian complained, once. If I HAD to choose.... I would go with the Wendy's fries about a year ago when they switched over to "hand cut sea salt," or whatever it was. They were really great back then, but I think they cut back on costs somewhere. Or I just got used to them.

- I read somewhere that Taco Bell quietly became the healthiest fast food joint out there, I read they got an actual nutritionist in charge of their menu and suddenly they have all kinds of "cantina" and "fresco" items for sale. So, that's kind of neat. Right now I like the XXL steak burrito.

No. Not at all. Tex Mex has almost nothing to do with Mexicans or Mexican cuisine. Tex Mex is to Mexican cuisine as Starship Troopers the movie is to Starship Troopers the book; it is a shallow mockery that inspires nothing but anger and bitter hatred from someone who has a strong personal link to the original.

Personally I like some Tex Mex, but everyone I know of Latino descent would punch you if you tried to blame them or their ancestors for the spread of Tex Mex to their faces.

I guess technically if it makes your customers throw it up before digestion occurs, maybe.

It's ok, the Tex Mex gods don't punish unbelievers. If you all made a pilgrimage to Southern California you would become believers as well.

I've been there and I'm not.

Yeah but you'd hate snow in Denver, weed in Amsterdam, and tits at Mardi Gras.

I've had my fair share of snow where I live. It is no longer impressive. Never been to Amsterdam, and the other can go drastically wrong.

I should have been more specific. Amsterdam is awesome for a lot of reasons. Food, incredible women, canals - weed being in a semi-legal state shouldn't be the reason you go. It does make the coffee shops pretty cool though.

I never saw the point of going to Amsterdam to do legal drugs when you'd still get fired when you got randomly piss tested by your job when you got home.

Magic Wok, whose entrees aren't great, has some pretty kick ass egg rolls.

I keep clicking this thread and seeing this post and might as well share a cool Amsterdam thing related to woks I've thought each time I've seen it.

There's a chain in Amsterdam called "Walk to Wok". AMS has that urban Euro city vibe, and is big on biking and walking. It has tons of busy energy, people moving everywhere. Like the NE urban centers without the horrible assholes.

Anyway, the "Walk to Wok" is a popular chain in the city. You select from a variety of noodles, meat, veggies, sauce, etc. They cook it on a Wok in front of you. Hand you a giant Chinese food style container with your food and chopsticks to eat it with. And off you go. Probably not novel, but I thought it was rad. Great for a trip to one of the parks or walking along the canal.

Sounds good.

You would enjoy Balance if they go national. There's a thread here about their food.
