Goddamn.
According to officials, the teenager and some friends were seen on surveillance video stealing two cases of beer from a store. He had seven passengers in his Ford F-350, was speeding and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit, according to testimony during the trial. The pickup fatally struck four pedestrians: Brian Jennings, 43; Breanna Mitchell, 24; Shelby Boyles, 21; and her mother Hollie Boyles, 52.

He gets treatment because his parents can afford the half million dollar price tag. But hey, everyone gets one free one...

That psychologist cited one instance when the boy, then 15, was caught in a parked pickup with a naked 14-year-old girl who was passed out. He was never punished, the psychologist said, noting to the court that the teenager was allowed to drink at a very young age, and even began driving at 13.

Money does buy you better justice. And it is an outrage.

And this case is a mockery. That boy should be in jail for life....

The boy is a minor, and not really responsible for himself. He needs some serious reprogramming.

The people responsible for his upbringing, and those who were responsible for his whereabouts the night he killed some people, should be in prison, at the least. Eddie Murphy taught me that the best way to hurt rich people is to make them poor, so maybe start with liquidating 100% of their assets and giving it to the next of kin of the people who were killed.

At 16, come the fuck on. You need a chaperone to tell you that shit could lead to bad consequences?

I fail to see how that helps this kid learn not to be this stupid again. If he pulled the same act and didn't have the green cushion...

The parents have obviously fucked up during this kid's entire upbringing. They are a large part of the problem and need to be fixed or removed from the equation. On the flip side, if you hammer the teen with a punishment appropriate to his actions, you have a very dangerous middle aged criminal in a few decades who has no marketable job skills and will most likely hurt someone the same week he's released.

When a dog still thinks it can shit on the rug, it's not really the dog's fault it wasn't trained right as a puppy. Putting the kid in jail doesn't fix anything without looking at who failed to raise him. And when I say "needs some serious reprogramming," I mean much harsher punishment than what happens in America today. Think A Clockwork Orange. But just throwing him in prison doesn't address the root cause.

Punish the parents, harshly and publicly. Strip them of their wealth. Put a tattoo on their foreheads. Watch parents all over the country decide to start getting serious with out of control children before bad shit happens to them, too.

Think A Clockwork Orange.

The entire point of that book was that brainwashing people into behaving lawfully doesn't make them better citizens, it simply removes their free will and makes them easier victims/patsies for the remaining assholes of the world. Taking away someone's choice is portrayed as more evil than making a bad one of your own.

People aren't dogs, they're much more of a pain to tolerate.

The kid is broken, one way or another.

And you're right, people aren't dogs. Dogs are better than most people. Well, maybe half the people.

If I was related to one of the people killed, I'd resolve the problem rather quickly and easily for everyone involved.

Money can protect you from the court, but it can't do shit against a pissed off loved one.

Wow. Just to clarify, a 16-year old rapes a child in Montana, gets 75 years. In Texas, you can run over and kill four people and not spend a day in jail.

They ought to toss the judge in jail and keep her there until this prick comes up on the radar again.
"It's clear that she gave someone a chance that didn't deserve it," Todd Clement, a lawyer who represents Boyles and McConnell, said of the now retired judge. "And (that is) exactly what Lucas McConnell predicted."

Must be nice to suck ass at your job that much and still draw a pension.

Half is selling dogs short. I'd say they're better than at least ninety percent.

120 days for probation violation. Looks like it's cool to mess with Texas so long as you're rich and white.

Parents also had run-ins with the law.
Three years later, Fred Couch punched a supervisor for a contractor that hired his company after the man told his workers to stop using an unsafe table saw, according to an arrest report. Couch drove off; he later received a few days in jail and two years' probation for the assault.

And in 2009, Fred Couch faced accusations that he sexually harassed a female employee, then fired her when she complained. Court records show he denied touching her inappropriately and showing her sex videos, among other things. The case settled on undisclosed terms a year later.

Tonya Couch's encounters with the law include a 2003 reckless driving case in which court records say she intentionally forced a motorist off the road. She pleaded guilty, was fined and got probation, records show.

Here's how he got caught:
They were apprehended in the Mexican resort city of Puerto Vallarta on Dec. 28, after a call for pizza delivery tipped off authorities to their whereabouts.

What do you get for drunken vehicular manslaughter, violating your probation, AND fleeing the country after?
The Friday ruling means the 18-year-old Couch could face 120 days in jail, then finish his 10-year probation.

Holy shit. 12 months in jail. That's 3 for each person he killed. Good thing he's rich and white.

Also good that it looks like he hit a car full of brown people. I seriously have to sit and fucking wonder what would have happened if a rich Hispanic dude slammed into a white soccer mom's minivan after a game. He'd be getting his first prison tat right about now, I bet. I'm 100% certain that would be the case if it were a poor anyone, Hispanic, white, black, or martian.
"What you see here today, this is my brother … this is how he's portrayed to live the rest of his life," Lemus said as Molina sat to his brother's right in a wheelchair, barely able to move, and unable to make eye contact. "Take a look. Y'all have not been to my house and seen what we have to change. Everyday what we have to do with my brother in order for him to stay stable like this. Alive. Breathing."

He continued, "The reason we're doing this is so y'all can see that we need help, man."

Lemus continued, noting that Couch and his family – who used his wealthy upbringing as a defense in court – have "so much money," but have not offered to help pay for anything.
