Diogenes was awesome. Two of my favourite quotes attributed to him:

Diogenes, sitting under a tree, to Alex the G after the latter asks the former what he can do for him: "Stand a little more out of my light."

Diogenes, also to Alex the G, after the latter notices the former wandering around in broad daylight with a lamp: "I'm looking for the bones of your father but I cannot tell them from those of a commoner."
Diogenes of Sinope: "It is not that I am mad, it is only that my head is different from yours."
Arnold Judas Rimmer, BSC, SSC: "Better dead than smeg."

Exactly. Proof that 22 year old kids living in NY on a trust fund are in for a hell of a crash, some day.

Apparently this was pretty popular some time back, but I've just now discovered it. This is a brilliant piece of film making. Just a testament to sometimes simple is better. Or at least complex doesn't equal better. Watch it all the way through. A few gems scattered throughout.

Thanks, it was super fun to make. It's our christmas card to our family back home this year.

The wife has a pretty strong digital media game.

She did a great edit job on that one.

My personal amateur porn is set to the 1812 Overture, and the audio/visual cues are perfect.

I've never filmed, edited or scored(?) anything before. I had some ideas and knew the footage, but not how to link them well together. We cut from 100ish videos to 10, and took snips from those and the others when we needed footage. It was fun, but it was exhausting, much harder work editing than I'd have figured.

Guess all the sexy stuff stayed on the cutting room floor, maybe next time.

I recently read a book entitled How To Shoot Video That Doesn't Suck. That was why I commented on her edit job. The book focuses mostly on the shooting of video, but the rules also apply to editing. When video taping this sort of activity you tend to just let the camera roll as to not miss something unexpected.

One of his exercises was to shoot short clips of whatever it was you wanted to capture in no more than 10 seconds. Not that one should never use clips longer than 10 seconds, but the ratio of videos that aren't good because they're too long as opposed to too short is huge. So the exercise was to get you to realize that after a short clip the viewer wanted to actually see what happens next where as a long one gets you bored and you never finishing watching the video.

Most amateur videographers have the same problem with video clips as 90% of the SNL skits. "This would have been good if they'd ended it about 1/3 of the way through". So I was watching your wife's job and sort of counting in my head. Honestly, the only shot that could have been seen to go on too long at all was the time lapse shot at the end. The rest had me going, "oh man, I wanted to see a little more of that", which is really what you want.

Always leave them wanting more.

Damn, thanks man, i'll pass on this post and she'll feel like a rock star. Which she is.

Definitely shooting for the "always wanting more" vibe. Sounds like I need to get my hands on that book.

This chick has a cute thing going on here. She's both attractive and probably a good lay, yet unattractive and probably not a good lay. I can't get a read on her because of the character.

The first one, and not as polished.

Definitely attractive. But I'm not sure that's a character.
