More proof "environmentalists" are fill of shit

Postby Vince » Tue Jul 30, 2019 3:20 pm

Voles have taken out a few of my trees I planted. Weird how anti-nature nature can be.

I'd bet a dollar that only 1% of that 350 million will still be alive in 5 years.

Apparently, Ethiopia used to be 30% covered by trees. Now it's down to 4%.

So the environment can handle them. No idea what their plan is to maintain them.

Not necessarily. Sometimes when a Forrest is cut down, the soil.changes/erodes to the extent it can no longer support a Forrest.

I don't know why autocorrect is capitalizing that word.

I've changed my mind. Saplings need to be managed and watered. I predict fewer than .01% will be alive in 5 years. That was a gigantic waste of energy planting them all, and added to the CO2 problem.

Someone find data on how much growth in renewable energy has spiked under "coal loving" Trump.

Then we'll go count!

Also, yes, plastic hurt turtles and whales. But it's the CO2 that's going to kill us all in 10 years. Does that seem like sane prioritization?

Funding, please.

Deforestation has almost stopped globally.

Thankfully Tabart’s claim was wrong and historically unprecedented poverty alleviation that has occurred in the last 50 years means that more countries are increasing their forest area. Yearly net deforestation is fast approaching zero and according to current trends, within the next couple of decades net afforestation will be the norm. This tremendous news is something to truly shout from the treetops.

Maybe. If these people think those 350M trees Ethiopia (?) planted the other day are permanent, then they're stupid, too. I think for empirical evidence, I'd need to see satellite imagery that illustrates that net forest loss is slowing, not just data that a sapling was planted to replace an old growth sequoia.

They're talking about measuring forest area, so it's not counting saplings. It would indicate some sort of aerial or satellite imagery.

Yeah, I have trouble buying this as well. Since they mentioned Memphis specifically...
Highest temperature 108°F July 13, 1980
Most consecutive days with high temperatures at or above 90°F 54 July 25-Sep 16, 1980
Most consecutive days with high temperatures at or above 95°F 28 July 31-Aug 27, 2007
Most consecutive days with high temperatures at or above 100°F 15 July 6-July 20, 1980

Fixed.

Also, I don't think you read the Memphis part correctly. Or, you don't understand what the "World" is. I dunno, I don't get it.

Still throwing the bullshit flag

They can lie to me with more emphasis on each syllable. Doesn't it make it not a lie.
